FPL GW 36 Analysis - Forwards || the-gorilla

Having analysed Goalkeepers and Defenders and Midfielders in quick succession, it's time to finish things off with the Forwards.

Alexandre Lacazette (17 points) and Kelechi Iheanacho (45 points) have now completed their 5 games with Iheanacho posting a particularly impressive score, averaging 9 points per game over our selection period. Whereas we've been hit and miss with selections in other positions, our forwards have performed consistently well. A lot to live up to then.

As ever, the past performance of my picks is available at the end of this article.

Time to look toward the end of the season though and as usual, I'll pick up to 2 players in each position -

  • the primary pick based upon all analysis
  • a cheaper pick if the primary's a premium option.

As always, I'll begin with my custom metrics, which are the same as my Midfielders article with the addition of extra teams due to the fewer options available in this position.

This gives us Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield United (ha ha), West Ham, Man City, Burnley and Newcastle to think about.

It's nice to be able to include Sergio Aguero even if 2 Burnley Forwards appear above him!

This really goes to show what incredible form our selection from 2 weeks ago, Chris Wood, is still in. Burnley's attack has only been bettered by Man City, Leicester and Liverpool over the past 5 Gameweeks (from an expected goals point of view) so it shouldn't come as a huge surprise that Wood is the main beneficiary. Fixtures against Leeds, Liverpool and Sheffield United are a mixed bag but none of them have formed a reputation as fierce defences this season so I wouldn't be surprised if Burnley score in all of these matches.

So, let's look at his last 3 fixtures:

An interesting mix here. The West Ham match is a concern but he did take the 1 chance that came his way. With no stand-out alternative, Chris Wood's our man again.

With just under 7 hours until the Gameweek deadline, I've completed my analysis with time to spare 🎉🎈
