What is FUD and how can you use it in the right moment! Dan Larimar resignation can be a good thing!

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Before I start to tell you why I believe @dan's resignation can be good, I want to share with all of you, that I'm not glad or happy because @dan announced his resignation. I have always tried to take a better look at the good part of things, but I also look at the bad part of it before I decide which part is more important for me and for the people around me.

The worst scenario after @dan finish powering down

When Dan's powering down will be finished, everyone expects that he will sell all and the price will drop very much, but, we will never know for sure if he will sell now or later or never! So, this resignation of our CEO of Steemit has created a big FUD.

FUD:  Fear, uncertainty and doubt is a disinformation strategy used in sales, marketing, public relations, talk radio, politics, religious organizations, and propaganda. FUD is generally a strategy to influence perception by disseminating negative and dubious or false information and a manifestation of the appeal to fear. While the phrase dates to at least the early 20th  century, the present common usage of disinformation related to software, hardware and technology industries generally appeared in the 1970s to describe disinformation in the computer hardware industry, and has since been used more broadly. -Source-

FUD is used by traders so many times, and they make a lot of money because people are afraid to not lose their investment, so they sell it at a lower price and the rich people are buying it cheaper.

The best-case-scenarioo!

The best thing that can happen when Dan decide to sell his steem, is that the price will go down and if you are not afraid to lose your investment, then
you should buy more at a lower price. You will be a winner after that for two reasons: You will have more steem power if you will power it up, and you can buy a lot at a lower price. I think right now is a good price to buy steem, but I think you should do your own research
and decide what's best for you.

Conclusion

This time you should think like a trader even if you are not one of them, at least this is what I will do for sure. As a wise man said: don't invest more than you can afford!

Think about this: if Dan jumped from this train, maybe he saw another potential train that will give him the right destination! He jumped before from another train, so he knows what he is doing, but, if you want to jump too only because he jumped, in my opinion, you make a big mistake and you can damage yourself.

If you know what you are doing, go for it and do your thing, but if not, I will suggest you
wait until the train will stop even if it will be a long way, the future will pay you when you arrive at
the destination.

You have to remember the good times too, not only the bad times!

I don't think Dan will sell his position, maybe fractions only. There is no reason for him to crash the price even lower. If he would sell all, that move would sabotage his own project and decrease his reputation in the blockchain community.

True, but you have to take into consideration the both sides! He can sell or he won't sell!

I doubt he will sell very quickly, its completely possible he will wait until they update and see what happens with steem as a whole. I wouldn't dump something just because i left something it could be a huge mistake so its best to take a step back and watch in his case.

Unless there is more going on then well lets ride this ship to the new mother land or to the bottom of the ocean.

We will never be sure what is going to happen next, and I saw a lot of people powering down. This can be crucial for a lot of people, but it can be also a good time for others to accumulate more steem!

I think the overall feeling by people who know Dan from Bitshares, he rode this pony into the ground and now needs new pony. Bitshares chart looks a lot like the steem one. Bitshares never recovered, i hope steem can, i bought a big chunk at 18k sats... looking like a write off.

I only know this from reading the BCT post here. (i do not know who the poster is)

Well, I don't know much about Dan's past and to be honest, I don't really care. I enjoyed this project so far and I will keep do it for a long time, or at least how long will be alive!

Fully agreed, the system was created unfairly at the beginning but its how you finish that counts, let hope the things get better for the rest of the year.

Yes, we have to stay positive and move forward no matter what!

Good blog @the-future, i like how you end it
"You have to remember the good times too, not only the bad times!"
I think Dan is a reasonable man, likely he won't sell now. But the negative effect of losing founder with such a great mind in dev team might have its shadow in STEEM price.

Thank you very much @araki, glad you enjoy it! I think that how long @ned will be involved, steemit will be alive and will prosper in the future!

agree, @ned is a great leader to steemit ship, in my opinion he is the best one to represent steemit, actually he is the one made me dive in steemit after he voted one of my early blog when i was a newbie.
But @the-future, we can't deny the fact that we are growing platform and need more people, developers and sharp minds, losing @dan now won't help at all, at least in short term, in my humble opinion. But nothing can be done and steemit is going on.
Thanks for replying

Agree, @dan was and he still is a sharp mind, but, he decided to leave and we should move forward. Only because he leave that doesn't mean Steemit should stop or it can't keep growing. People should hold their positions like nothing happened and keep doing what they did until now. Thanks a lot for your feedback @araki!

Well, he's gone and that's it, whatever he does with his steem is for him to decide. If enough people remain who believe in the future of steem his selling or not will only be a momentary blip, harmful if he sells but very well within the limits of steem being able to recover.
The question is, who is willing to stay with the proyect now that he is gone, a replacement has to be found and real quick, so that people will not panic. Personally I don't really care, of course I want steem to succeed and I expect to keep on making pennies every time I write something (it all adds up) but my stake is at the moment so small that it wouldn't be much of a loss for me, only the time I have spent here but since I have had some good experiences even if steem fails for me the experiment has been good.

I feel you @gduran because I think I'm in the same position as you were and I didn't invest too much, but every SBD I've done have I send it to Poloniex and bought more steem. The most important thing is time, not the money because everyone can make money, but nobody will ever make Time! Thank you for you time!

Nice !

I do not think that Den will sell his position, such people do not make hasty decisions. The project that develops is pretty silly to throw.

You might be right @inna-yatsuk, but people don't know what Dan will do and they start to panic in such situation! Thank for the feedback!

That was a great post @ogochukwu, sorry that I missed it, but I don't get any notification because it's off! Thanks a lot !
