Today, I'm going to give you an update of "Shei-sensei Series".

And this time, I'm going to share something related to Health and Wellness. I hope you learn and enjoy! ^^




THE EIGHT DIMENSIONS OF WELLNESS

Before we delve into this topic, let us first define the word, "WELLNESS".

What is Wellness?


  • According to the Cambridge Dictionary, "Wellness" is the condition of being healthy. Yes, that's true, but it doesn't necessarily mean that if you're not sick or if you're free from diseases, then you're well.

    Wellness is something very vague. It is multidimensional and holistic. It can be affected both by intrinsic and extrinsic factors. It is something that fuels our body physically, engage our mind and nurture our spirit.

    In this post, we will learn the various dimensions of wellness. Please note that we don't have to balance every dimension to be well, instead, we have to aim to find a harmony within ourselves together with the eight dimensions.


    So, let's start and prepare to be well! (^_^)/

EMOTIONAL

When we say "Emotional Wellness", it involves our ability to cope with feelings independently and interpersonally. This dimension also involves optimism, self-esteem and self-acceptance.

In order to achieve this dimension, we need to practice self-care, foster our resiliency and inner resources, find ways to effectively cope with stressors and create harmonious and satisfying relationship with others.


ENVIRONMENTAL

This dimension of wellness encourages us to live a life that pays respect to our surroundings. Environmental Wellness includes our dynamic relationship with the environment. It makes us recognize our responsibility for nature. In return, it will have an effect on our health and well-being.

To achieve this, we have to have a good social and natural environment. We should build an environment which is stimulating and supportive of our well-being.

FINANCIAL

Financial Wellness refers to our involvement or relationship with money. It involves our ability to manage our resources in order to live within our means, make informed financial decisions and investments and setting up realistic goals.

We should be aware of everyone's unique financial values, needs and circumstances.


INTELLECTUAL

This dimension inspires us to join activities which are mentally-stimulating and creative. It is our ability to critically think, reason out objectively, make reasonable decisions and explore a diversity of ideas.

Improving our Intellectual Wellness" doesn't only happen in the four corners of the classroom, for it involves a lifelong learning and curiosity.

OCCUPATIONAL

Occupational Wellness includes or preparedness and preparation in work that will provide us personal satisfaction. It is a life-enrichment which is consistent with our values, goals and lifestyle.

Taking a thoughtful and proactive approach to career planning and assessing our own work performance as well as work satisfaction is included in this dimension.

PHYSICAL

This welness is about maintaining a lively and profitable lifestyle. It is about discovering what healthy habits make you feel better and suit your lifestyle and level of mobility and fitness.

Physical Wellness includes adopting healthy habits such as routine medical exams, immunizations,adequate sleep, a balanced diet, regular exercise, etc. Of course, it also includes avoiding or at least minimizing our vices such as smoking, drinking, etc.

SOCIAL

Social Wellness is about our connection with our community and the people around us. It inspires us to take an active participation in improving the community, connecting with others and establishing social networks and relationships.

We should be aware of our own social and cultural background to better understand the diversity and depth present in other backgrounds.

SPIRITUAL

This dimension includes seeking and having a meaning and purpose in life, as well as participating in activities that are consistent with one’s beliefs and values.

Spiritual Wellness is more than prayers and beliefs. It seeks a harmonious relationship with the universe. It is being connected in mind, body and soul.





HEALTH is a state of body... WELLNESS is a state of being.

Another lesson! Yeey it's about health!

This lesson is relative to our 1st lesson in health. Lots of information shei-sensei. No one is perfectly well but I'm happy to say that I am somewhat well :D Thanks for the useful content

I am not perfectly well at all...if I have to give points to each dimensions it'll be on the low side but I'm somewhat happy...I was just thinking...my boss will probably give higher points on those dimensions but his life sounds crazy...

Aww... hugs We need not balance everything, sis... Every dimension is essential, but their level is unique in every person... Some becomes happier if they're able to fulfill their physical wellness, but others are happier when they have a higher spiritual wellness, and so on! ^^

I dont think theres someone who is perfectly well,were humans and we are born unperfect usually Im having a problem with my financis that affects my emotional and maybe it is because Im lack of my spiritual.

True... Nobody can be perfectly well... Perfection is just an idea, but we can get to the point where we can somehow feel it... We all have our own share of problems, but this too, shall pass! :) Take care po, miss @antonette! <3
