캐나다 출신의 17세 청소년 2명이 암호화폐 거래소 코인베이스의 지원 직원으로 위장하여 미국 시민권자로부터 400만 달러 상당의 비트코인과 이더를 훔쳤습니다. FBI와 미국 비밀경호국의 전자 범죄 태스크포스(ECTF)가 수사에 참여했습니다. 경찰은 10대 청소년들이 이런 방식으로 1,340만 달러의 암호화폐를 더 훔쳤을 것으로 의심하고 있습니다. 가해자들은 Felon("중범죄자")과 Gaze("더 뷰")라는 가명을 사용했습니다. 이들은 훔친 자금의 일부를 인스타그램 계정을 구입하는 데 사용했습니다. 현재 이 10대들은 체포되었습니다. 이들은 절도뿐만 아니라 범죄 수단으로 얻은 재산 또는 재산 수익의 소지 혐의로 기소되었습니다. 분석 업체인 펙쉴드는 월간 보고서를 통해 공격자들이 6월 한 달 동안 전 세계에서 약 9,300만 달러의 암호화폐를 훔쳤다고 밝혔습니다. 해커들은 총 42건의 해킹을 저질렀습니다. 최근 미국에서 빌스 코스트 슈퍼마켓의 직원이 비트코인을 구매하기 위해 현금을 훔친 혐의로 체포되었고, 텍사스에서는 한 무리의 괴한들이 암호화폐 기계를 훔치려 시도했습니다.
