Is this funny? Is it discouraging?

in #steem6 years ago

Thanks to @themanwithnoname for pointing this out. I don't get unfollow and ignore notifications because I usually don't care, but this one strikes me as hilarious.

@andrarchy's comment in the pre-fork thread:

My response:

The next actions he took on the chain:

And of course, I don't have an image of it, but the upshot of the fork has been exactly what I said there. The "fair" system they implemented has turned out to be nonviable and now they're scrambling to "artificially lower the cost of transacting for the time being for the sake of continuity."

I'm too fatigued by this whole thing to be very bothered by this at the moment, but I definitely think it's hilarious. Tomorrow I may feel otherwise. Well, I'm still going to think it's hilarious, but I might be laughing my way to the cashout table.

I am going to go all in on "Discouraging" here. Ignoring people who raise valid concerns in a non-angry/trollish fashion is about the last thing someone in @andrarchy's position should do.

Hear Hear !!

Well, in the nicest possible way, you do come across like a pompous so-and-so at times, even if you are making solid sense.

Is "artificially lower the the cost..." a direct quote? That could, should have been worded differently perhaps.

I see it as almost impossible to guess right the parameters for fair transaction costs for all first time, and am happy to see a swift reassessment by Steemit. It may not be the last, and it may be that further generousity to solid Steemians is required to ensure the good can continue their levels of engagement.

Btw, an unfollow from the Steemit team is a badge worn with pride in some parts.

This made me laugh, directly said 😂

It's true that civility is the foundation of a great conversation but you can have a fairly good one without it. Perhaps there's something for both parties to take away here.

:D

Perhaps there's something for both parties to take away here.

I would go with that.

Well, in the nicest possible way, you do come across like a pompous so-and-so at times, even if you are making solid sense.

Oh, no doubt.

Is "artificially lower the the cost..." a direct quote? That could, should have been worded differently perhaps.

Yeah, that's from the latest thread.

I thought that the cost per transaction was automatically calculated and continuously adjusted based of transaction volumes. Doesn't that just mean we have to wait until transaction volumes rise before we can get a good estimate of the cost?

steemd is already telling me I have way more RC available than I will ever use. I don't see any problem.

Do you have some reason to think that the cost of a comment will never come down enough to make new accounts viable?
