Some more shots from the Engine 260 Fire Muster
Some more shots from the Engine 260 Fire Muster
In thispost I shared a few shots of some of the Fire Engines in the Annual Engine 260 Fire Muster here in Milford CT, and some people wanted to see some more of the fire trucks and hence I am doing this post.
Now I know a lot of kid slove seeign all the fire trucks and I will admit I am a big kid at heart as I enjoy seeign them as well
Now someone mentioned that had not seen an open-backed fire truck well there were a few of those including this old one

And here is another one, I wish I could tell you what year these trucks were in service but I didn't find out sorry.

Now there were quite a few of this style of a firetruck, maybe I will have enough to make this post all of that type, so her eis another one

I notice this next one says a citizens muster team, so I guess that is a voluntary fire department, some bigger cities have a fuller funded fire department here, others are manned by volunteers, but whether a full time of volunteer firefighter, the people that do this job have my utmost respect and perhaps that why I am still a big fan of events like this
And speaking of the event, I was there for the opening ceremony and heard that all funds raised from this event would go to a local group that arranges free camps for kids of families that could not otherwise sens their kids to a camp.

And finishing off with a shot of a row on these trucks mostly in red but you can see one at the end in yellow
Now as I was preparing this I wondered why some fire trucks are yellow or white, and it appears that even though red is the most common color as they are seen as hot and easily noticeable for traffic to make way for them, some studies have shown that particular at night White or bright yellow trucks stand out more.

Now I do have plenty of more shots from this muster, but I ran out of time to add any more to this post, so in the future, I may do another post otr posts from this event.
And that’s all folks

I will bet it was nice to see history on lined up in the form of fire trucks. How cool to do an annual muster like that. I am sure that you have more pictures and places to put them right now, I am always reluctant to leave without sufficiently having photographed them because I don't know when my next chance will be.
You got some real gems here and I cannot believe what could shape they're in for his oldest they are and the kind of wear and tear that they got. I am in love with that first open backed truck with the almost tractor like front end. It was shortly after that they got a little more fire truck looking.
There's still a lot of places back East that have a volunteer fire department and I'm not quite sure because most of those towns are rich enough to have their own, but have maintained their volunteer status and beefed it up with regular fire companies. As a song of your ending statement with saying the yellow trucks were easier to see at night, it occurred to me that here they are all yellow and for some reason it never even struck me that they were the wrong color. Thank you for another great post and I wish you a most wonderful Monday.

I do love visiting this event I missed dit the last couple of years so even though i was only there for maybe 45 Minutes i took a ton of photos to make up for the years I missed LOL
I have friend sin CT NY and NJ who are volunteer firefighters, I know for a couple of them the city actually funds the fire trucks and equipment but the members always wanted to keep it Volunteer even thought he city as you say could afford and would fund a permanent fire department
I was always used to red fire trucks so seeing the yellow White and even one blue one is different for me, there is one in CT that I have sene in a parade that is pink in support of Brest Cancer research
Thanks Kindly and wishing you a wonderful Monday as well

Very nice shots! Maybe the ones with the open back are from the 40's? I am just guessing. Metal was probably going to the war effort so they had to make cuts where they could. It's probably a long shot, but it could be an explanation. :)
Thanks and that does make sense to me, I cannot think or any other reason for it, so lets stick with that :)
Connecticut has several volunteer fire departments. My brother in law and my nephew are on one. My other nephew, in Connecticut is a full time fireman. I remember a few years back, when Ryan was sworn I they had a party at the volunteer firehouse. They let me slide down the pole!

thats very true also NJ and NY has some as well out of the big cities, I have quite a few friends that are volunteer firemen in all three states
How cool that you got to slide down the pole its fun to do isnt it :)
Thanks Kindly truly appreciated

It is open-backed fire truck to all, but it is a convertible fire truck to me, hehehe! I am glad you showed us these other photos. Fire trucks fascinate me, @tattoodjay!
Sorry I missed this comment, but yes I think Convertible Fire truck is a far better name for them
