Monochrome Monday and Cemetery Photos

Monochrome Monday and Cemetery Photos

For this post I am sharing a few shots through one of the cemeteries here in Milford, and it will be for to challenges running namely

Monochrome Monday Hosted by @old-guy-photos

And
Cemetery Photos which is a tag started by @melinda010100
Even though I do not know anyone buried in this cemetery, I do find walking through this cemetery is a time when I think of my Parents and brother who have past on from this life and friends and colleagues who have also passed on from this life, and I find these walks somber in a way but also kind of refreshing thinking of them and the time spent with them when they were here, not sure if that makes sense to anyone else.
Starting with this rather grand Looking Headstone which is still in such good condition

This one stands tall and proud in the graveyard, and I stop by it in thought often, and I am not sure exactly why as the name son it are Smith and Ford and I dont think I have kknown anyone who has passed on with these names

Another headstone in the Cemetery in very good conditions, I do know the names Clark and Pratt are significant in some of the history of the city,

Great cemetery photos. I love cemeteries. They bring a lot of reflection even if you don't know anyone there.

Thanks and yes I think that is probably the same for almost everyone

Your cemetery photos always work well in black and white. That tall monument does tower over the others! Have a great week, my friend and thanks for using the Cemetery Photos tag.

Since i am trying t ge more steps in these days i often pass through one or other of the cemetery’s here so I no doubt will be using your tag from time ot time :)

I am always impressed by how much work and time goes into some of the monuments that are out there. Money too. I am sure those things can't be cheap. I really can't remember the last time I was at a cemetery. Due to my beliefs, I don't really feel like my loved ones are there, so it isn't as important to me to "visit" them there. I know that sounds horrible :P

No thats not horrible at all and I do feel the same way myself that they are not there, but for me it does bring back memories of y family and friends who have passed as I walk through a cemetery

Ohh yes I dread to imagine how much some of these headstones must have cost

Great to visit historical cemetries no longer in use! I dont like living cemeteries, if that makes srnse at all.

Cemeteries were made for black and white photos! Those are great!

Yes I do agree they work so well in mono

@ginnyannette This week is brought to you by the word 'cemetery'.

I didnt know there was a hashtag!!! A whole new world opens on Steemit!!

Ohh yes so many Hashtags here it is impossible to know them all :)

Ha! If only I had realized the other day, I could have put that post in its proper place, or proper burial ground, as the case may be :)

These are very fitting for monochromemonday. Nice!

Thanks Kindly and Have a great day

Same as you. I do find cemeteries quite fascinating and good for reflecting on life.

On the other hand I don't find them sombre at all.

Visiting cemeteries can make us think about the things that really matter?

I wonder why Smith and Ford stand out for you? Interesting thought.

Yes Sombre may have been the wrong word choice,
I still haven’t worked out what this about those names or that marker that catches my attention every time Maybe someday it wi become clear to me but not yet

It's always nice to have a bit of mystery in life. Maybe it will come to you one day. Our brains work in amazing ways. 👍

Yes I get it is It was in my ind last night when I went to bed and I just couldn’t get it out of my mind nor get to sleep

OOh, I'm a Clark by birth! I wonder if any of those Clarks in Milford are my relatives. I love your use of monochrome for these shots. They would not be as powerful in color!

You never know they could well be, and thanks :)

One of the sites I have been busy with during my sabbatical from Steemit, is ancestry.com. I did a DNA test and found 3rd cousins in the USA from my Welsh mother's side. My great-grandfather's brother seemed to just drop off the radar in the Welsh census, but a bit of digging found him on the US census under a different name, but his employment details and place and date of birth all added up to the same person from the same tiny hamlet. The DNA tests then showed all these people descended from him who are related to me! It was pretty cool! I do seem to have some Clark relatives in the States too. Will need to look into the information I have!

I spent some time on Ancestry as well and did the DNA found some interesting results and have tracked my Moths side back quite a few generations,, but no luck on my Fathers Side he was adopted and I haven't found any info on his birth parents yet, but have some leads so I am hoping I will find something soon :)

Isn't it fun? I've gone back to the 17th century on both sides of my family - pretty easy to do when everyone pretty much stays n the same place for generations!

We're having the same roadblock with Jim's father's side, as his grandfather was adopted!

Ohh yeah it is fun I was doing both mine and my Wifes side for a while but then I got sidetracked i will probably start on it again after I retire and have more time

I'm also doing my sons' on their Dad's side of the family, That too is interesting to find they have relatives in the US from a couple of generations back!

That is so cool, to think how easy it is to do know compared to even just 10 years ago
