This is a post for tree Tuesday hosted by @old-guy-photos and is a shot from this past Saturday looking out at Charles Island When I took this shot I was thinking how barren Charles Island was looking, and I wondered if it really was that mach more barren than it was previous years so I looked through my Archives

This second shot is from Feb 2014, so a similar time of year at and it is faiirly clear to me that it is so much more barren than it was back in 2014,
I remember reading somewhere that the Department of Environmental Protection had cleared out some non Native trees to enable the native trees to grow back I hope it works and the trees thrive on the island and in a future year I will take photos and notice new growth

Fighting back invasive species is a long, arduous battle. Hopefully it works for Charles island!
Thats my understanding as well, I hope its a prolonged and successful effort and not just a one time try that may well not work
I am so happy that the government is putting all these efforts into saving the environment, or at the very least trying to take back some of the damage that has been done over time to the native plants. I find it very invasive to drive along the highways down south and see all the Kudzu growing taking over the once beautiful roadway scenery. Every year just a little bit more is swallowed up by this invasive plant. I hope you have a wonderful day and thank you for sharing with us. Happy Tree Tuesday
I do agree and love when they succeed sometimes they get it totally wrong but i hope in this case it works and soon we see the island swarming with beautiful trees and wildlife
Happy Tree Tuesday to your to my friend
Happy tree Tuesday! Now that is something I can get behind. Probably better to thin out the forest every now and then. Did you know that mature trees process less carbon dioxide and potentially harmful gasses, such as sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide than growing trees.
I fully support it and hope they have done it well
Now that is somehting I didnt know thanks for the info
Lovely lonely Island.
Rumors and legend talk of a buried treasure eon the Island, of course it has never been found
Might have been buried and found already.
Indeed but that would take away the mystery of the fable lol 😂
They could have missed some. lol

Both shots are beautiful!
It's a very good initiative from the government as It is important to save androgenic species. it will be interesting to follow the evolution of this project through your photos.
I hope to see some signs off growth over the coming years
I hope the trees thrive there as well. It's good to know they are trying to save them.
lets hope they do would hate it to get worse
It does look indeed more barren but the blue colour lifts the overall image. So they took out all the non native trees. How interesting. This seems to be happening all over the world? tip!
Apparently the non native trees were smothering the native and so they took them out
Thanks for the tip
Same thing is happening in South Africa. It's a huge problem there too.
The invasive species is Port Jackson as I recall. Grows like crazy.
That name sounds familiar I wonder if that’s the same here
Could be? It was exported all over the place because it grows so fast.
