My Actifit Report Card: July 28 2019

in #actifit5 years ago

Back to reality

For this evenings acifit post I share some photos taken with my iPhone admittedly not today most of today's steps were with the grandkids this morning or a little shopping this afternoon, but I did just barely make my 5K steps to warrant this actifit post, ok admittedly with walking back and forth around the house for about 15 minutes or more to make the 5K I am sure my wife thinks I have lost my marbles, well She probably thought that years ago LOL

Will be a short post with little words as I am worn out ( in a good way and probably going to be a couch potato this evening)
Will get active again on here tomorrow
Now let me share a few random shots taken around Milford
This first shot is of a little flower planter at the edge of the green

and a cool old and aged door handle, admitedly it would be even cooler if my phone did not decide to rotate this image sideways

and finishing off with this old cannon which used to be on the old Fort Trumbull here in Milford, which was relocated to this location outside the Chamber of Commerce building back in 2011, it was thought that this 5-foot cannon was one of a battery of six that guarded Milford from the British during the Revolution and the War of 1812. But during its restoration, Platt Tech students uncovered a foundry mark dated 1882, making the actual age of the weapon unclear. but historians think that it was never fired in anger

Haha, yes, phone cameras love to turn some images sideways! That is a cool old door handle!

Yeah I tried numerous times but that one photo just wanted to be rotated

I think anytime you get moving, it's good. I do laps around my property when my kids don't want to go for a walk but I'm going stir crazy and have to move. Sometimes I even sprint the little hill in our backyard. My mother has been known to walk laps inside her own house, too. You do you. ;)

yes I am the same I wanted to make up for some quiet days so got out for a good walk this morning 10K steps before 8Am and on the beach a perfect start for the day for me :)

Clapped out and you still take great photos JJ.
Peeping neighbors watching you walk aimlessly around the house would think that the grandkids drove you cuckoos. Lol

I can hear aunty Madge across the road saying to uncle Albie that maybe they should call an ambulance to come and fetch you hahaha.
Blessings!

LOL at Aunt Madge and Uncle Albie :) fortunately, no one saw me walking around LOL and the photos were from a previous day :)

In time to time is good to relax my friend.

Greetings and have a great day.

Flip click lock door handle, have not seen one in many years, looks like it is brass with the green build up, nice find!

Markers along train tracks look old with the green on the wood, would be interesting to know which lines they were used for.

Keep walking, enjoy seeing your unusual finds.

I remember when those old door handles were common now they are few and far between this was on an old building downtown

The train line on those tracks are for the Metro North and New Haven Lines as well as Amtrak trains go through here

Line markers must be for the first two trains you mention, mile markers perhaps to next destination, the older trains. Would just love it if this country still had a good rail system, train travel was such fun!

I did a few train trips back home in NZ and in Europe it’s a fun way to travel and even with taking Ng the train n to NYC everyday I still enjoy it it’s far better than driving

We only used train travel as children (or bicycles) my Dad only got a car in 1970 when I was 15 years old.

Enjoyed travel on trains in South Africa into the mid 1980's, when moving to the coast the trains took ages to get into the city often stopped on the tracks for an hour, eventually bought a motor bike to commute, later a car.

Yes train travel is much better than driving (especially today with roads being so busy), unfortunately we no longer use trains due to safety issues.

Thinking back I cannot remember when my Dad got his first car, may have been around the same time but i am not sure
Sad that you cannot use trains anymore for safety reasons
