A Very Simple Goal: Keep Adding Tokens

in #steem6 years ago

I view 2018 as the year to accumulate tokens. My goal is to amass a nice amount of diversified tokens in an effort to position myself when things really start to come together in the cryptocurrency industry. Since we are in the early days, this entire sector is fragmented. That will not always be the case. Over time, we are going to see advancements in development that will tie things together.

At this point in time, I look at most tokens as lottery tickets. Many, if not most, are losers, but there will be some winners in there. Accumulating a wide range of tokens will really help to increase my chances of holding the winners when things break upward.

My strategy is just not to buy anything. In fact, what I am relating here involves no purchasing. Instead, I am opting for the "earning" of tokens via activity. We are starting to see utility tokens becoming the norm. This means that tokens are acquired through utilizing the application for what it was designed.

I believe I am somewhere around 10-12 tokens I acquire on a regular basis along with some others that offered one time deals. This does not include the airdrops on my Bitshares, as an example, although that happens too. In fact, we saw this happen on STEEM the other day.

Thus, I have a simple goal. I want to end each month with more tokens than I started. Since I view them as lottery tickets, each one is valuable. This means consistent action on a daily basis. Some of my efforts do not net a great deal in terms of the number of tokens, and even less in terms of dollars. None of that matters to me at this point. It is the accumulation that is important.

For example, I am very consistent in my use of Presearch. I wrote about this on a number of occasions. This is a project I believe in after following it for more than a year. That said, the odds of me retiring off PRE tokens is not likely since I earn 8 a day. Nevertheless, since the beginning of the year, I earned about 1500 tokens from searches alone.

Obviously, priced at about 11 cents is not going to get me very far. Even if this goes up to a couple bucks over time, I still will not be set for life. No matter. I will spend the next couple years accumulating tokens, if they allow me, in hopes of getting my account to over 5K. Then, at a couple bucks each, I will have a little bit of money. Of course, to do that, I am going to have to do my searches each and every day.

There is also a referral program, if anyone has not signed up, you get 25 token for using a referral code.

Here is mine.

The release of SMTs should provide us all with a great opportunity to follow this same pattern. I expect to see hundreds of different tokens on the STEEM blockchain over the next year or two. This will provide Steemians the ability to engage in some action in return for tokens. It is the beginning stages of the tokenized economy. Right now we have the ability to earn by using @steemhunt and @actifit.

Of course, the same is true for STEEM. The goal should be to have more SP at the end of each month than one began with. SMTs are going to create extreme demand for STEEM. Every token added to your account could have significant value down the road. This is something to keep in mind. View each token with a value of $100 or $1K. This mental game will keep you motivated whenever the FUD takes over (as it is right now).

Investing and purchasing in tokens requires a great deal of due diligence and know how. Acquiring tokens via action does not carry the same bar to cross. There are many tokens that I earn which I would never invest any money in. While they are solid projects, they still could collapse for a variety of reasons. Since I do not have a crystal ball to be able to decipher which will succeed, I will amass all I can.

This is my approach which I feel is solid. Feel free to follow it also if you find it helpful. It is important to have a long-term outlook regarding this industry. The question is not where you are today but, rather, what will your accounts look like in 2-3 years? I can guarantee the more you garner in the early stages, the better position you will be in.

While I love the idea of token, token are causing artificially increases of marketcap. I think a new marketcap standard should be put in place somewhere like the top 200-300 coins are recorded.

Look for tokens that are Big in volume, for example 0x, Bat, Zilliqa

Also don't forget GRC! #Gridcoin is a crypto that rewards you for crunching scientific data through BOINC. While you will have to dedicate some hardware to it, you get the awesome benefit of helping out scientific research in such categories as finding cures for diseases, napping the cosmos, finding prime numbers that are really really big, finding black holes, lots of math, cracking coded messages from WWII Nazi Germany, or even - where it all began - searching for extraterrestrial intelligence. Pretty cool idea.

Good post. I believe you have the right mindset. Being a Bitcoin maximalist is dangerous and reckless imo.

You said your earn 10-12 tokens regularly, you listed 3 (steemhunt, actifit, and presearch). What about the rest? and have you heard of @cleanplanet?

Some are not tokens yet like swiftdemand and sweat. There is also manna which I get weekly. BRO and BAT are a couple other...just to name a few.

No I havent heard of that project. I will look into it.

looking into Bro right now, do you buy BAT? sweat and in sweatcoin?

Thanks for the Presearch tip. I'm with you. I am invested in technology I believe in and that technology is generally ones I can use to create more wealth.

I don't get too varied, and most of my interest is in LBRY.io and Steem with a few others of course. Of all of them, I sincerely think these are likely to be major players in the long game - for lots of reasons.

We shall see, and whether I win or lose, the fact that we are witnessing the most transformative time in human history is a win for me. Purchasing value aside, some of these technologies are going to free humanity in ways we never even saw coming.

I hope...

I like my tokens too and even went through the comments and took a few notes.

Thanks for the positive writing patterns in a time of FUD.

Bookmarked!! Exactly my thoughts. I have a list of "accumulating". My way to do things though - I sell everything that spikes in prices on the bear market, repurchase something from the list that is down... and the cycle goes on and on...

Yeah, most of the coins probably won't pan out, but some of them may and if you have an inexpensive way to get a pile of coins now, it could at least help out later down the line... even if it doesn't let you retire.
