Useless numbers?

22222 posts means I have added a little over 10% of my posts on the Steem blockchain in the last 2 months. I was averaging 800 posts a month at that rate but for the last 2 months I have averaged 1100. I really have no idea how....

Does engagement matter?

The jury might be out when it comes to adding financial value to an account but, it definitely matters when it comes to the relationship one might have with Steem. In my experience, it is those who engage who tend to make it through the bear markets and all of the other drama on the platform. It is funny that while most initiatives aim to keep people here through votes, it is the conversation that has value.

I guess it is like the difference between job and friend relationships, if one doesn't get paid at work they leave, one doesn't expect to get paid by friends. Although, friends don't mind shouting a round of drinks from time to time - most employers still don't like drinking on the job however.

I enjoy the conversation on the posts and I hope that more people would spend time having a little fun under there too - and especially reading the comments of others. It is great to engage with the author but, it is even better to create relationships in groups as people get to know each other and eventually, build and become part of the various communities throughout the blockchain.

What I find is that those who have the tendency to comment deeper than just with the author generally end up sticking around much longer. I think this is because rather than focusing on those posting, there is emphasis on those who also like to comment, those who like to engage and this leads to a group of people who interact all over the platform and across many authors together. That is pretty cool. Not only does it make interaction more enjoyable when there are people talking and joking, it adds a lot of volume to an author's post. I really like it when friends have a bit of a conversation on my post and share some inside jokes.

It is nonsense when there are highly rewarded accounts that feel that they don't have to reply to any of the comment they get. In my opinion, stop voting on them, stop commenting on them, stop caring about them at all.... I think the French for it is, fuckem.

On that note, perhaps I should write about something else:

What would you like to talk about?

People cry how Steem is so (well, some at least) hard. Well, to those people I would throw a question: what if you have the consumer programming from previous social medias? Facebook, Instagram, and all that. Sure, you might post a picture here or there – comment even ("you look so beautiful, babe xoxox") – but what they program us to do, is to consume as much as possible. Never ending fees with algorithms that figure out the stuff that keeps you hooked to always scroll "just once more" for better and appealing things. This is what the centralized services benefit from. Meanwhile we are scrolling like drug addicts, we forget to actually be social in the freaking social media. Especially in an engaging manner (an example of a not very engaging comment earlier, in my personal opinion). The more I think about it, the more ridiculous it sounds. It's as if people are complaining "why do we have to be human".

but what they program us to do, is to consume as much as possible.

The idea is to throw as many advertisements through the feeds as possible so if people stop to read, they are making less money.

Cheers to the quality comment and back-n-forth, indeed.
You make a good point on that. It's about the human connection even if by means of a small joke or observation or simple thanks, etc.

Yep, people should spend a little more time responding to one or two others on a post and have a little fun.

The unit bias has you now!

I eagerly await dapps that allow us to bring value to Steem in other ways as well.

The unit bias has you now!

It always has...very cheap gamification :D

I agree. Vote properly and comment on posts and people you enjoy. Too many don't understand how this place works and see commenting as a chore. 99 percent of my votes are followed by a comment normally. It does get one through when the place becomes quiet. Was discussing this on Markku's post a short while ago.

99 percent of my votes are followed by a comment normally.

Yeah, this is a good way to go I think though I fail often enough at it :)
I will check the convo on Markku's.

The French is La Fuckem

I agree and yet people will fall all over themselves to get a 0.0001 vote in

That’s a lot of posts.

pretty funny isn't it :)

I think the French for it is, _fuckem. Tu veut dire quoi par cette phrase? ;)

Didn't Google Translate turn it? :D

What do you mean by this statement?

didn't Google translate, translate "Fuckem"?

Edite: note: "Excuse my French" is something said when someone swears/curses. What I mean was... Fuck them.

I understand the context but it seems that in this context you mean you don't like the French people!

I speak 95% of the time in French.

Not at all. it is idiomatic.

This post caught my eye @tarazkp. Remarkable not only the total number of posts you have written, but you've actually "increased the pace" of production? Wow! Not sure how you find the time to create content at that level and do anything else ...

Well, you have always been one of the Steemians I admire. This post just underscores why ... "Happy trails" to 44444?! 😉

"Happy trails" to 44444?!

Will it take two years? :D

I don't know where the time or energy comes from tbh but I am guessing that it is an enjoyable habit for me so, it sticks.

That's an amazing number of posts per month. I can't imagine writing even half of that in a month. You're like a machine.

As for commenting, I don't think I make that many comments either. However, I am better at commenting than posting. Primarily because you have already chosen the topic, which sparks ideas. Perhaps I lack imagination.

those are combined totals. I post 2-4 times a day but comment about 30-50.

Perhaps I lack imagination.

No one lacks it, most don't use it.

OK. I can see being active comments, especially when you are replying to others.

I enjoy and appreciate engagement quite a bit as it demonstrates much more than the financial reward potential here like you mention. It not often leads to great conversations bit also different perspectives that expand our knowledge and thoughts on subjects that are often relevant both here and in our lives.

that expand our knowledge and thoughts on subjects that are often relevant both here and in our lives.

THis is what I am hoping to see more of in the future, people recognizing that there is life value here beyond the coin.

I agree, writing comments are almost the same from writing a post. The difference of writing a post is less in engaging many people. Especially when you have the wrong tag. While engaging author's are more effective. You will be recognise by everyone, especially when you'll write a comment for those powerful steemians. Many will visit this post. Unlike writing a comment like myself. I don't have much follower and they won't give a damn about reading my content.
The one who always visit are those friends of mine and the community I joined in.
But still writing a comment had disadvantage, you're not sure that they will upvote your comment by giving time reading their post. They are selfish, yeah you are right. Why do I'll visit them again.
Fuckem, hahaha
I'll just make some post where it satisfies my heart and thoughts. Just saying, don't want for the others to be offensive.
