RE: Useless numbers?

in #thoughts5 years ago (edited)

People cry how Steem is so (well, some at least) hard. Well, to those people I would throw a question: what if you have the consumer programming from previous social medias? Facebook, Instagram, and all that. Sure, you might post a picture here or there – comment even ("you look so beautiful, babe xoxox") – but what they program us to do, is to consume as much as possible. Never ending fees with algorithms that figure out the stuff that keeps you hooked to always scroll "just once more" for better and appealing things. This is what the centralized services benefit from. Meanwhile we are scrolling like drug addicts, we forget to actually be social in the freaking social media. Especially in an engaging manner (an example of a not very engaging comment earlier, in my personal opinion). The more I think about it, the more ridiculous it sounds. It's as if people are complaining "why do we have to be human".

but what they program us to do, is to consume as much as possible.

The idea is to throw as many advertisements through the feeds as possible so if people stop to read, they are making less money.
