I grew up in a place like that back in the 60's they just drain the life out of people.
glad to see you made it out.

True that! :D well wasn't there for a long time.
But yeah, not a plessant place to be in...

Dear Reinis,

for several days now I have been following you and really like your fresh approach to your film making. I have upvoted you accordingly, however timid. You are so prolific, I don't know if my VP can stand that level of daily output ;-)

It saddens me that you did not realize this yourself, hence these lines. You're probably thrilled at the dollars rolling in, but what happens when @dtube doesn't push your videos up the trending list you can see in your own blog: Double digit dollars thanks to @dtube and pennies when it doesn't happen. Please don't get discouraged, it isn't your fault.

If you want to break out of this dependency, you need to pay a little attention to your followers, too. Capture them, and keep them. The best way of doing this is by engaging people, by looking at their posts, upvoting, commenting. It takes time, but a followership of reliably voting minnows is more rewarding than the one whale, who could drop you like a hot potato when their interests change.

That's not to say I'm not thrilled when those whales stop by and the double or triple digits are appearing. Hell yeah! But an audience of many is more rewarding than an audience of one, from an artistic standpoint. That audience needs to be built.

BTW, did you know I fly a drone as well? I wouldn't call myself a filmmaker yet, but I have ambitions to be creative with the camera as a retirement project. If you like, you can have a look here:

As you can see, I'm using Vimeo and not DTube. While I have nothing against DTube (and think it will be a great platform down the line) I much rather PAY Vimeo to maintain control over my videos and not pay DTube a 25% fee for hosting. The Vimeo fixed fee of $5.00 a month or so is cheaper in the long run I think, but mostly it's about control as an author.

After 7 days, yours is gone. Me? I delete, modify, add, recompile to my heart's desire. Are you aware at all that your DTube videos also appear on the Steemit and other platforms? You might want to look into this. Naturally, I can't have any of those generous @dtube upvotes either. Win some, lose some... You decide what's important to you.

Anyway, I hope you will think about this and wish you all the best here on the Steem blockchain. I think you have talent and will surely make your way here.

Best Regards,
Folker

ok, I understand what you are saying! four videos a day was a bit too much :D
And I know everything about the steemit and how the videos are getting deleted. I know all that... This is my side project. Uploading and sharing, because I need to create, I'm quite obsessed with it. I have a lot of energy and when I don't use it, it goes against me, so I find ways to keep myself busy with things I love to do.

  • with every video I get better and better at what I do, so either way it's win win because I get paid in real life for these skills and not from d.tube. I Have a video company. I create visual stuff for living.

And don't be sad! There is no reason to be sad :)

Have a nice day! :)

"I need to create, I'm quite obsessed with it." -- The passion shows. Good stuff! Side project or not, it still is work, your work, and you should get rewarded for it. If you feel you are, that's great. Like you said, no reason to be sad ;-)

As to the control issue, suppose you make a mistake, e.g. an unintended copyright violation, you get a "cease and desist" letter and must comply (assuming there are similar laws in Latvia). It could cost your business. DTube, as innovative as it is, doesn't provide for pulling an offending video. (Yet?) After 7 days: Game over! DTube is perfect for video that requires protection from censorship, but terrible for commercial artists.

O.K., I spoke my piece. "Happy mode ON."

Got iT!

:D nice! Ok!

Have a nice day! :)

I live nearby- next to mēbelu nams

Čau! Riga gives me creeps! Haha. I lived there only for 3 years and I really hope that I will not be back too soon. Anyways. I hope to see more and I hope to see the beauty you talk about. :)

Not Riga... Purvciems... :D

And of course! There is much Beauty in Riga! I have some videos on my profile where you can see the beauty side!

Have a nice day! :)

'Broken dream boxes' - wonderful phrase. I lived in Odessa, Ukraine for a while and there was a part of the city that looked very much like that. Same in Almaty, Kazakhstan where I lived for almost two years. I follow a couple of people on Instagram who post photos of soviet architecture and I really enjoy looking at them because it reminds me that not everywhere is here. If that makes sense. Probably not.

Your videos area actually bringing tears, which is weird, but I'm seeing humanity in action here. Could just be my current emotional state brought on by discovering this crazy and wonderful platform.

Anyway, you've got yourself a new subscriber!
