Steem Basic Income - Voting Report 23 September 2018

Steem Basic Income

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

Still Going Strong

It's been some time since we've done this report, but we are still going strong. We are up to ten pools, so your upvotes could come from @steembasicincome, @sbi2, @sbi3, @sbi4, @sbi5, @sbi6, @sbi7, @sbi8, @sbi9, or @sbi10. We currently have 3705 members that have posted within the last 28 days. Unfortunately the members that are not posting are not receiving upvotes. There are currently 52715 units in the program, and it grows every day.

Pool 1 accounts voted

With so many inactive members, we have only been able to upvote 293 of the members in pool 1! This represents a 27% inactivity rate in pool 1. We will continue to move inactives into an inactive list after 4 weeks. Since rebalance cycles take time to process, the exact cutoff for movement to the inactive list is flexible.

When a member on the inactives list begins posting again, we see that in our data refresh and reactivate them into a lower pool.

Pool 2 accounts voted

Pool 2 upvotes come from @sbi2!

We flattened the premium that higher pools received and removed the share maximums in each pool. In our last voting report, we predicted less evenness in the slices of members that had capped out multiple pools, as some of their shares start to migrate toward the higher pools. We will see that in many of the pools this week, as some members are still spread across multiple pools, and most pools are not dominated by one or two larger members that have not been moved into a larger pool yet.

Pool 3 accounts voted

Pool 3 upvotes come from @sbi3!

@steembasicincome received 5.9% of the voting value from @sbi3. We have been posting updates roughly 3 days per week the last few weeks, instead of daily. This reflects in the voting value going to @steembasicincome falling short of 5.9%

Pool 4 accounts voted

Pool 4 upvotes come from @sbi4!

Under our partially manual system, we upvote in full integers (e.g. 1%, 2%, etc) and we usually move people down only when their upvote % drops below 0.50%, so it would round to 0% instead of 1%. As pools grow, the value difference represented by a range of only 1% has grown significantly. This is one of the reasons why we have transitioned from 500 members per pool to only 400 members per pool.

Pool 5 accounts voted

Pool 5 upvotes come from @sbi5!

The percentage granted to @steembasicincome in pool 5 was 9.6%. There were several voting issues in the past week, with the whole blockchain down for most of a day. When it came up, it took another day for our upvoting services to start upvoting. During this downtime, we used some of the voting power in the pools to upvote @steembasicincome comments and keep too much voting power from being wasted, pools that reached 100% sooner (having higher voting power before the downtime) spent more voting power on @steembasicincome comments during that period.

Pool 6 accounts voted

Pool 6 upvotes come from @sbi6!

This pool looks a lot like we expect from lower pools, and we will see more of the same when we release our full automation. When voting power is sliced up among lots of accounts with low membership levels, even a 10% vote on @steembasicincome posts is more than any of those accounts receive.

Pool 7 accounts voted

Pool 7 upvotes come from @sbi7!

Ironically, both @stevescoins and @particleman have both moved out of pool 7 in the last rebalance, so their dominance in this pool will pass by the next update (especially if the update is as delayed as this one).

Pool 8 upvotes come from @sbi8!

@kiwijuce3 set up and runs our Discord server as admin, and has been rewarded with a nice stack of management units for his efforts. He also runs some of his own programs on Steem and (like @josephsavage) is not always active on his own account, which has slowed his rise through the pools. When he does post, he gets a decent share of the pool that he is in.

Pool 9 upvotes come from @sbi9.

Like pools 5 and 6, the voting pattern in pool 9 is very much as expected for a lower pool. Not much to see or comment on here.

Pool 10 upvotes come from @sbi10.

We started pool 10 a few weeks ago, and filled it very quickly. Over the last month, the count of active members has been growing very slowly, as inactive members drop to the inactive list, only to be replaced by new members and newly reactivated members.
To simplify our pool management and rebalances, we are not starting all new members in pool 10 any more, only to move them up quickly with rebalance cycles. We are still targeting 400 members in each pool, but as spots become available throughout the pool structure, we will add new members (and reactivated members) into whichever pool has the most spots available - until that pool is filled and we choose the next pool.
We will continue to move members up if they are active and hitting 100% on their posts, or down if they would receive less than 0.50%.

Conclusion

We are extremely grateful for the work that @holger80 has been putting into our automation project. Please consider supporting him with your witness vote.

Enrollment

If you want to get involved, or to increase the Steem Basic Income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:

Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 unit in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member. If you sponsor yourself, or do not sponsor anybody, we will assign the 2nd unit to an existing member.

Please check out our full transaction memo guidelines and let us know if you have any questions.
https://steemit.com/busy/@steembasicincome/steem-basic-income-updated-transaction-memo-guidelines

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. The delay for processing enrollment transactions is normally 7 days.

Questions?

Please read our recently published FAQ. Most questions are addressed in our FAQ or in the additional resources that it suggests. If you still have questions, ask in the comments section or join us in our discord channel. To review your share counts, we recently introduced our new SBI Member Lookup Tool.

Hello @josephsavage
@steembasicincome doesn't upvote... 😔 I know it's probably an issue with steemauto again which does not work. Maybe the votes missed out can be fetched later? Anyway - have a nice day... @peekbit

@peekbit, I already miss one upvote too but I've read @steembasicincome will make good the missed votes using their own upvote software later.

that would be nice... 😊

Your guys are great @ steembasicincome. Thank you for the details information and the effort to this communities.

I am currently under sbi10. Active very day and posting mostly every day. Any chances moving up ?

Hope you got to spend a little time with the family, this weekend. I see you did do some updating on the numbers. Great job. 👍
