SteemitPhotoChallenge Entries : Challenge #8 long exposures

For this challenge, i'd like to show different ways of capturing long exposures.

Entry #1

A powerful storm that i catched with long exposure. I that way, many lightnings illuminates the clouds, rain and city with purple colours. It has been taken from my balcony. We can see the Neuchatel lake and the city of Yverdon (Switzerland).
{Canon 5DSr, 24-70mm lens (f/4.5 - 24mm - 12sec - iso100) and tripod ;)}

Entry #2

Sharpness of Rocks versus smoothness of Water. That's something i really love about long exposures. Everything that is unpermanent disappears or transform into something blurry and smooth.
{Canon 5DSr, 24-70mm lens (f9 - 35mm - 30sec - iso100), Neutral Density filter ND1000 and tripod.}

Entry #3

That I called the Sumi-e kind of way. The Japaneses created this art. The white and the shades of grey are very important for them. It's part of their culture. Also minimalistic and pure but sharp. A bit like tofu ;)
It way a misty(c) day. Cannot see the moment when the sky appears and the water finishes. Love that.
{Canon 5DSr, 24-70mm lens (f/22 - 70mm - 4sec - Iso100), Neutral Density filter ND8 + ND4 and tripod}

Bonus entry

We tried yesterday to create something with lights and water. It's in Lausanne (Ouchy) next to the lake. Normally i would use Photoshop to merge 2 pictures : a rapid shot to fix the model and a long esposure for the water. But! In this
challenge I couldn't do that. So it was really difficult to catch a non moving model... She tried hard i can assure you. Maybe we shouldn't have had that big beer before XD !
{Canon 5DSr, 24-70mm lens (f/7.1 - 50mm - 4 sec - Iso100) and tripod.

You can find the 3 first pictures on my stansmithphotography page on Facebook and in Flickr (Mind Frame).

Feel free to ask for anything or suggest! Totally open and not narrow minded.

Magnifique photo de la ville d'Yverdon (C'est où je vis).

Tu es de la région aussi?

I really like your 3rd entry :) I've always wanted to try and get something like that.

Thank's a lot. And at these moments, many photographers stayed at home... so you are alone in another dimension ;)

I really like the bonus entry. About that movement of your model, I thing that you'd better use a bigger opening, somewhere around f-2.8, or f-4 and to focus farther than your model, so she would be a little blurred. In my mind, this way she will match with the blurry light behind her.

thanks. I will try your suggestions next time... that seems to be a great idea.

Nice capture on the lightning photo - was that done just by fishing for the right moment or a lightning sensor? I also like the pylons on the lake!

It was a 12" exposure, so I assume he just opened the shutter a bunch of times and took the best lightning shot (well thats what I do at least, and assume he did the same ;) )

Yes... @nords is right. And that gives the opportunity to catch more lightnings behind the clouds that gives volume and deepness.

ah now I see the 12" exposure in the exif and in the description!

Thank you for sharing this material, I like what you posted. Thank you so much
