STEEMIT Promoter Struggles: Phone Doesn't Stop Ringing!
I'm a firm believe of everything related to the STEEM Blockchain and to Steemit, its platforms and its communities.
Having said this, it's just natural that I promote Steemit everywhere I go. I consider myself to be a good Steemit promoter... but there's a catch.
- Promoting Steemit takes a LOT of time;
And here's why:
My phone doesn't stop ringing now, my discord gets shot up in messages, my facebook blips with messanger alerts... even though I practically don't use it anymore.
The thing is... Promoters get gutted with questions, and it all has to do with the following.
Nobody Finds Anything or even Mentions to Many Mechanics
I'm sure you remember the time you joined and how lost you were. Heck, I was lost as well and in some ways I still am. The thing is, you should learn about Steemit mechanics from Steem - but you can't.
Heck, some mechanics aren't even mentioned in the platform: I'm looking at you Voting Bar.
One of my students that joined Steemit, @ddua, has spent his bandwidth on votes. This isn't an isolated case either as @taskmaster4450 already told me the same happened to him when he was a noob.
This happens because people think voting is infinite, as the introductory posts only ever mention Voting Power = SP and there's no mention to percentage.
The first time I found out about VP percentages was when I checked outside sites like Steem Supply and Steem World and found the bar - shocking discovery!
That bar wasn't there for show either, it heavilly influences the way we use the platform.
The Average User Doesn't Bother To Look for Answers
Another thing to take a look at is the fact that the average user doesn't bother looking for answers... much less using the search function that I times and times again said sucks!
Now, you may be saying to yourself, if people don't look for answers because they're lazy we don't want them here.
I get what you're saying... but!
We need this platform and decentralized projects to be mainstream, and for that we need them to be easier.
Steemit, as it stands now, is definitely not prepared for the spotlight.
All of the guys I referred to the platform can confirm the fact that they think Steemit is Rocket Science and that they don't understand squat of it.
Improvements Are Required: 100s of Tutorials On the Blockchain!
This is a real problem, the lack of onboarding effectiveness, so dire is this problem that users made hundreds of tutorials and guides on the platform.
The problem is... nobody finds them, because of the search function and the site's interface.
Now, I know we're in Beta, and that I could do my part in helping improve everything if I knew how to code... I don't... I'm sorry.
But the problem remains that these issues can't be swept under the rug.
So far it has been mainly smooth sailing because the people who found the platform by this point either knows someone who can help or found the platform by their own and as such are pretty tech savvy.
But...
What will happen once the asses come?
In conclusion, promoting Steemit is the best way you have to change lives, to expand the gifting economy, to show the world it is not just SHARKS swimming out there and all of those good things.
However, if you plan on promoting Steemit, be ready for everyone to ask you about everything all the time.
Especially, be ready to really preach the difference between Steem Power and that Vote Bar that expends itself.
It's a tough job, promoting Steemit, but we have to do it if we're really invested in it.
We need to pay it forward and help the community we love grow.
As far as I'm concerned, I'll answer every question willingly... but how many bandwidth bars need to be spent in order to get some better onboarding?
Cheers

So QUIT WHINING and ANSWER YOUR PEEPS!!! lol
Really tho, you are more fortunate than I am, basically no one here has much interest.
"Land of the Free, Home of the Apathetic" pretty much sums it up. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT "down on America" it is still by far the best place to live, but we have some drawbacks that go along with all this Liberty, Prosperity and Excess... My Boy Max thinks everyone over here uses a mobility scooter and is just downright FAT! Well, we have lots of those, but it's not everyone. Just half :P Maybe? lol
Even our poor see little need to upgrade, if it involves Hard Work, for the most part. Maybe I'm just buying into the narratives that are so common, but I am mostly looking at it from the standpoint of a Steemer! Nearly ALL the "Fine Steemian Friends" I have see the potential, and 98% of them already realize that it's going to take plenty of hard work, but they are willing to do it. EVEN I DID, from the word Go, and in my professional life I usually tell the younger guys and girls that "To find the best way to do something, ask the laziest guy, and that would be ME!" But I believe in "work smarter, not harder!" and then I try to relate to them how I have done most things almost every way possible, and many times know the best way. At least I think I have shed that way of thinking here @steemit, or maybe I will adapt it later once I have seen more of the "good, better, and Best" ways. It will take a while, because there are so many innovations coming out that it is impossible to keep up! I'm really just a newby myself, 8 months (almost) and w/o a ton of outside fiat invested I'd still be just a little minnow. Mos Def!
If Maxxey-Baby Minnow Boy had my time on Steemit, plus the funding and Luck, with all the support I had, combined with his innate familiarity with blogging? I think he'd be darn near a Whale by now, or close! :D
Oh @underground you really know how to grab a 100% upvote from ya homie Maxxie!
Again, a really great comment. I think you just weren't made to post, but to comment on MY posts :D
I have to write an article about you one of these days, you're a great follower to have :P
Cheers man, I agree with the mobility scooter part, whoever said that.
By the way, people here are lazy too, most end up giving up.
agree with you the normal information is just hard to get due to poor search
The best way to show your devotion to the platform is to reinforce your voice, this is a good investment
I'm happy to help anyone as much as I can.
All my posts I'm aiming at thinking and doing something to make people aware
Steemit is not just a platform, it's a family :)
Thank you, good post
Yes, we the early adopters have the mantle and the responsibility to bring the masses to this platform and to launch the Golden Steem price age :P
