A New Heart (Original Poem)
I used to have a heart of flesh
That was easily bruised
So then I got a heart of stone
That was rarely used
So I got a heart of glass
So everyone could see
All the pain and trials
That had happened to me
Something happened then
My transparent heart grew hollow
So empty then
Not even a feeling I could follow
The rift in my soul
Leads to the void of my heart
No real problems in sight
So where do I start?
I hope I'm not finished
But I just don't know
This empty grip around me
Why won't it let go?
Me and this world
Seem eons apart
Will you help me look?
To find my new heart
Notes: An ancient poem highlighting something I'm sure we've all gone through - that movement between an open and closed heart. To being vulnerable versus being hardened and cold. Although the rhyme scheme is pretty simple, I enjoy the imagery and the flow. Hope you enjoyed.

Beautiful poetry. I love how the person in the poem tried out all of the different avenues - heart of stone, heart of glass. It's how we all live our life. We try out a million different ways to figure out what works best for us. Thanks :)
