Wheel Machines at the Train Machine Shop
When you rebuild antique steam engines, you need some massive machines.
This one is a boring machine for the wheels. Just toss a train wheel into the little machine and bore the wheel to fit the axle.
Here is a close up of a wheel in the boring machine
Whey you need to press a wheel onto an axle, just use this little old thing. I don't know why half of it needs to be buried in the floor.
Now it is time to cut a bevel onto the tire with this lathe. The bevel is what keeps the wheels centered on the track. I got this. I don't need any help loading the axle assembly on to the lathe.

Are u an engineer? I am an engineer too
@socky, For sure, these types of machines work in the Background to create great stuff in practical life to improve our lives.
And in my opinion we sometimes really underrate and easily judge some creations and give rating very low but if we see actually how things are done then we will going to realise.
Particularly this machine is reflecting as used for the Heavy work and in my opinion in live we can hear many metallic sounds.
And trains are important part of our life and these stuff improved our life and created many stories in many lives.
Wishing you an great day and stay blessed. 🙂
Thanks, it was an impressive machine shop at the Navada Northern Railway Museum. The most impressive thing is that it is still fully operational and still used to repair steam locomotives.
Welcome and great to hear these words. Stay blessed. 🙂
Very impressive socky, have you ever checked out the HP of modern diesel train engines, it is unbelievable! Even the bore of the pistons, just to power a massive electric motor! 🙄
Resteemed socky👍
I need one ok those diesels in my truck 😁
My son says that they are on computers to start up at regular intervals. If they are in the “shop” they need to disable this function, or they will start while being serviced. Kind of spooky😬
Awesome... love these machines
