Liquid STEEM Report Oct 9, 2018

in #steemit6 years ago

This is a historical graph of both Total STEEM and Liquid STEEM supply

(Note) There are two different scales on this graph. For full scale, see graph below.

Liquid STEEM is the remaining STEEM that has not been converted into Steem Power. (Orange Line)

  • When STEEM is liquid, it can be readily sold and purchased.
  • When STEEM is locked away in SP, it is not liquid, It takes a significant amount of time to convert it back to a liquid form.

This is a graph of the same data. The data of this graph was plotted on the same scale to show the massive difference between Liquid STEEM and STEEM stored in SP

I created these charts with data that I collected over the last few months.

Why are these graphs important?

STEEM is created at a high rate. Currently 8.72% per year. Many Steemians have a concern about STEEM inflation with the high rate of new currency creation. These graphs show that there is a limited supply of STEEM. Inflation is being offset by the rate of STEEM converted to Non-Liquid STEEM.

May I ask something? Is there any way to see, how many millions of STEEM POWER is being unused each day?

I see accounts with 100K and more STEEM POWER that do absolutely nothing, no curation, nothing... Kinda sad...

They are probably just delegating there SP, not many would just park there money....

Hey, could be, but usually when someone delegates it looks something like this (-250.192 STEEM), btw that's from my wallet as I'm supporting @steem-ua. And that "-" is not in front of the whatever SP they have. I can't really point out an account because I just smoked a nice joint:)

Cheers

I don’t have that data.
The way I look at it is the more people don’t use their voting power, the more STEEM in the pool to go around.

very true, Maybe some just park there SP?????

my brother @socky
To increase the price of Steem in the market, should steemian store steem in the form of SP or Steem Liquid?

I think it would require more usership on this platform. With more usership, the supply of liquid steem would diminish as users would need to power up. That would create a limited supply of STEEM.

I agree @ socky I am powering up daily, but I would like to see it get a bit easier for the newbies. What are your thoughts on new entry's to Steemit in relation to RC ????
I send quite a few of my post to my Facebook to encourage others to join......

I don't have an opinion yet on the RC system yet. I 'm not really sure what benefit it has yet to users. Perhaps it has a purpose that benefits Steemit Inc only. What Steemit Inc publishes and what we get are two different things. For instance we were going to be able to delegate the RC. What they are publishing now is that the RC system was needed to keep track of transaction costs only. That makes no sense whatsoever. STEEM is a blockchain with open ledger for anyone to view the transactions. It seems like with a little code, one could just use past history on the blockchain to quantify any type of transactions and get complete stats. The history is all there. There is absolutely no need to implement a new system to keep track of the transactions.

Remember that they stated that we are now able to make changes to old posts where the 7 day rule doesn't apply? Well, that hasn't happened. In fact, that was enabled long before HF20 and they were waiting for witnesses to start running the latest software. It didn't happen then and it hasn't happened on HF20. It just goes to show that you can't make an opinion based on what Steemit Inc publishes.

We will just have to wait and see how this new system plays out.

Very true @ socky, I have just had a hard time trying to find all the changes with HF 20. I am still small but after a certain number of RC, I don't really care or pay attention to the % at all, just my voting power %. I just thought velocity would help new people to jump on board. I still see people voting early, and if I understand correctly any votes before 15 min. just go back in the pool and don't count. I don't think anyone understands the changes of HF20 100%.

thanks brother @socky. I agree with you
