The Oldest Wooden Building in Korea, Geuk Lak Jeon of Bongjeong-sa Temple
There was the oldest wooden building in Bongjeon-sa temple in Korea. While repairing the building, the record was found that the building was built around 1200 AD at Goryeo dynasty.
The building was well preserved. So it looked like to have been built not for long years ago.
The pillars and the supporting parts of the eaves were made with simple as same style as the early Goryeo dynasty architecture.
The window was so impressive.
It was so simple, but it gave me a strong impression of the beauty.
As I have written several times up until now, the simpler, the stronger in the sense of the beauty
Side wall of this hall also was so impressive with its geometrical features and structures.
There was the Amitabha Buddha, buddha of future, inside of Geuk Lak Jeon.

The standard is green bamboo but the color of bamboo Ogokhion is black living 60 years, at the beginning of his life green color After 3 years it becomes yellow and then builds and finally changes to be black When he dies he becomes white says Han Hessock

@slowwalker, May be they are not reflecting so old due to the effective Preservation but the artistic essence, sculptures and architectural essence reflecting the Ancient essence of this building. Stay blessed. 🙂
Awesome find! Well, I mean there are lot of cool places to share with us in Korea, and you're blog really celebrates that and I love it. But this place I really like. I love old architecture from any culture, and this is OLD! Wow.
What percent of the building is original? Is it just the main beams? Or other parts as well. I'd be thoroughly impressed that roof is 800 years old. Wow.
Latest with me is I found a great social place to spend most of the winter here in Thailand. I'm still in this cool traveler town of Pai; 4 hours by van north west of Chiang Mai the main city in northern Thailand. Came here straight from Steemfest; and life is good! Wishing you the very best! -Dan

That is fantastic! A simple wooden building that is much older then the country I live in. Blows the mind.
The supports also actin as such nice ornamentation is very special too.
Something to be said about ancient structures still there and the study of what makes them so transcendent.

I see that the Bongjeon-sa temple is painted and that probably had given strength to the wood that made it last for hundreds of years @slowwalker and it is indeed masterfully crafted by the zealot monks and the result was a very sturdy structure indeed.
