Harvest Time With My Sister
Back when we young, my siblings together with our parents has been planting string beans, harvests and sell them. When we have left, we cook them either for lunch or dinner. Probably the reason why my knees are weak. 😆
Anyway, when we had our jobs, we don't sell them anymore. We still cook, and give some to our neighbors and relatives. We occasionally eat them, and since I am already married, we rarely eat them. My husband isn't a fan of it but he occasionally eats them.
Because our compound has been surrounded by fishponds, it's easy to plant string beans because it grows there easily.
String beans grow bountifully. However, there are times when our thoughtless neighbors bring their goats in the area, and the string beans as well as its leaves are eaten. They don't care but we have long patience enough to bear what they do. There are still a lot left though.
My sister and I decided to go to the string beans farm, and harvested some. My sister loves the leaves though so she took more of it.
There I am harvesting the string beans. I also picked some of the leaves. I'm more of a vegetable person. I can eat more vegetables than meat. That's why I am encouraging my husband to eat more vegetables because he is more of a meat person.
Those harvested string beans are also distributed to relatives, not only our own. It should be cooked immediately because it's still fresh, which means more delicious. We don't have to worry running out of it because there are still a lot to harvest.
Right where I live now, it's mostly concrete. I wanted to do homesteading in a minimal lot. I will start soon when I have enough time. I don't think I'll be planting string beans because it's unlikely to grow here. I'm planning to plant eggplant because they grown in pots, tomatoes, okra, and bitter gourd. My husband told me that bitter gourd grows easily in their place.
