ACHIEVEMENT 3 BY @nikhilpandey - TIP: CONTENT PROTOCOL

in Newcomers' Community3 years ago

Good morning.! a cordial greeting and blessings to the entire @steemit family, especially to the entire @newcomers community to @tarpan and @sumit71425 for verifying my previous achievements. Without more to say here my achievement3. Content label which has plagiarism as its main theme and how to cite a source.
What is plagiarism?
According to the RAE, plagiarizing is "substantially copying other people's works, giving them as one's own." Although plagiarism can sometimes be unconsciously incurred, its practice undermines academic honesty.

SRC.

Plagiarism is understood as:
01.- Present the work of others as your own, impersonating the original author.
02.- Include phrases, paragraphs or ideas of other authors without citing their origin or authorship.
03.-Do not use quotation marks in a literal quote.
Giving incorrect information about the true source of a quote.
04.- The paraphrasing of a source without mentioning the source.
05.-Abusive paraphrasing, even if the source is mentioned.
06.- The "self-plagiarism": present a work of ours already used as new.

Currently, thanks to the facilities offered by the Internet and digital technologies, the most common type of plagiarism is that of "copying and pasting" content found on the Internet without it consideration for the rights that may be violated.

SRC.

Making use of other people's works within the law avoids plagiarism; For example, using small fragments of other people's works for research purposes is permitted by law. However, and even if it is not plagiarism, these uses must be done ethically and this means that the authorship and source of the work used must be cited.

How to avoid plagiarism?
Correctly citing the sources used in the research process, using the different citation styles available according to each discipline.

How to cite a source?
If you want to cite information extracted from another author in the work, you have several options:

Quote verbatim, that is, transcribe literally what is written in the source. If at work you literally quote a sentence or a paragraph, you must put the text in quotation marks, in italics or with another type of font and cite the source from which you extracted it (last name of the author and year of publication), with the complete bibliographic reference at the end of the work.

In the case that it is brief, you can insert it in your text in italics, and if it is long it is better that you put it in a separate paragraph. Quotes must follow the words, spelling, and punctuation of the original source, even if the source is incorrect. The omitted words or phrases must be replaced by three periods.

SRC.

Summarize or paraphrase: you can also summarize the ideas collected in another work or paraphrase, that is, explain with your words or using your own form of expression the ideas of another person. This is legitimate as long as you indicate the source. When you summarize, paraphrase or make a reference to an idea contained in another work, you must put the author's last name and the year of publication, in the place of the text of the work where you quote it, as well as in the textual quotation.

By not putting quotation marks or italics, you should compare your sentences with the original and make sure that you do not accidentally use the same phrases or words and that the information you offer is accurate.

This concept of citation, from the point of view of respect for copyright, is complemented by the concept of bibliographic reference, which implies the use of a specific citation style, that is, how the citation should be made (Harward, APA, MLA, Vancouver, etc.).
