Steemit Beatbattle #5 Entree 'NEGLECTED' (Winning track :D)
Hi all!
I just completed a track for the next round of the #Beatbattle contest, for the 3th time I participate and this track I made if for week 5. The theme of this week is pain and sorrow. Something of a feel I do not really like to create actually but I gave it a try to put some emo in it. This time the style is a hiphop beat with phat sounding orchestral sounds added to it in the athmosphere. it's not a very long track as I normally create. I went a little out of inspiration at the end to be honest and I was on time limit to finish it and do the mixing. I think its better to finish it right away when you are in to it than coming back and adding everytime because I use to go screw it up faster step by step and it can turn out a mess so I had to stick to it and it turns out to be 2:50. But since I normally not do hiphop and had to find my way into it in the production proces I do not really care about it, because I believe I did a pretty nice job here in this style... feels fresh to do something different than you do normally right?
Anyways, I'm going to shut up now and give you 2 options to listen to it.

I found a sad video on the internets searching for free to use video, and I found this asian emo video that In my opinion perfectly fits the track style and athmosphere (pain and sorrow) and I thought it was a good idea to enhance the track with the video a little. It may also be more likeable to some of you to just press a large obvious play button rather than the struggles soundcloud links often have so here you go.
I hope you enjoyed it and it would be super nice and useful for me to get some credible feedback on this since it's a style of music I didn't do seriously before. So let me know where to improve or where to focus more in mix or in editing style.
Track is made with logic pro X completely using mostly standard vsti and massive. For the mastering, mixdown, effects etc I also used all of logic standard stock plugins, exept the mastering compression which is done with plugins from the wave bundles.

The beat was dope. I wanted to hear some 808's though. It's the drums that get my creative juices flowing. That video was a great pic. All that time and homeless dude was actually protecting his store.

Mix is coming through a little hot on my end. I like the composition. I would like to hear some more changes in velocity on the strings to make them sound more organic. Right now everything is competing for volume it's feeling a little too quantized. However that said it's pretty epic. Reminds me of something from an action movie, right as the credit are about to roll and the characters are walking away from a building blowing up.

It's a phat beat dude, love that big phat cello at the very end. Great sounds in general especially the spiccato strings on 01:16 and the pizzicato ones towards the end, very authentic sounding all together. Awesome idea to add the track to the video it fits perfectly together. ☺ Sorry that I can't upvote cause it's 12 hours before pay out and it won't let me do it..you got my vote though. (;
