Prem Castle

Prem Castle dates to the earlier castles of Slovenia. Formal sources first state it indirectly as early as in 1213, while the construction itself goes back to the 12th century.

The first owners of the castle were the Lords of Duino. The noble Udo de Prem was one of the most stronger vassals of the Patriarchate of Aquileia and achieve many properties in the Karst and in the north Kvarner area.

Basing on legend, Prem Castle was to have been built in the area of an old Roman fortress; but, no archaeological facts stands behind this legend.

Today, the castle is devoted to social occasions, along with a wedding event hall.
