My 1st year anniversary on Steemit

Today is my 1st year anniversary on Steemit. 🎉

Just in case you are interested on how I got here (step by step) and what I did during my first 2 months on Steemit then go to my 2nd month birthday post.

Probably I came here just the same reason as everybody else - to find a way on how to earn some money with blockchain. At first sight I did not like Steemit. This first impression has not changed much. However, my attitude has changed a lot.

As I wrote in that post, during those 2 months, I dig deep and worked hard to understand how Steemit works. Unfortunately my Plan A (to become a blogger) and B (to create an app) failed, but I found a Plan C (crypto investor) that worked just fine.

Plan C worked mostly because I entered the crypto market in Bulls trend and it is easy to earn money when prices on crypto assets goes to the Moon all the time. Yeah and I truly believed that @haejin was a pro trader with 15 year experience. I voted for his posts with all my STEEM POWER (~7700SP). 😂

Only later on, when I followed his trades, I started to question his posts. On Bitshares DEX (decentralized exchange) you can seen a user activities. In each and every post he was writing about going to the Moon, but at the same time he was selling his assets on exchange. I live by principle - do not listen what a person says, but keep an eye on what he does.

Bull trend has changed to Bear and with every post he made more and more failed guesses. My guess is that many Steemians, who followed his posts and invested their money into crypto, have lost a lot of it, when the trend changed. Then the war began. At the beginning I supported him and my votes were burned by bigger players. Then I stopped voting, because it was a useless waste of resources.

Steemit is a simulation of our world where we all live. There are a lot of dumb people who has money and power, but are too weak to take responsibility for their own decisions and as well - failures. It is easier to blame others and even fight for it.

There was another trigger - a creator of Steemit @dan started to power down. That was a sign that something is not good with Steemit Inc.

On December 26, 2017 I started to power down. At that time I believed that the price of STEEM will retrace and in summer go to the Moon - good time to sell it. It didn't. 😂

I sold ~5000 STEEM when it was around $3. And am happy about it, because I could re-buy some STEEM and made at least some profit on it.

I have read STEEM white and blue paper and liked them. What I did not like is how they have crippled it in real life solution. Until that is fixed I powered up only 1000 STEEM as a curation fund that I'm ready to give away to support Steemit community.

From my steemworld.org profile you can see that as a Currator I earned only 137 STEEM. At the moment when I made a decision on powering down, I calculated that it was around 1.5% per year. Of course, I forgot to mention that as a bonus you have all this Steemit teenager drama... 😂

It is hard to tell if STEEM is a good investment. Not as a short term investment - if you lock up your STEEM into Steemit for 13 weeks by powering up, then it is a total disaster. If we compare it to FIAT world then it is OK, but STEEM is a crypto world asset and it should be evaluated to other crypto assets. The issue is that there are not many crypto assets that have MVP like Steemit. The only way to measure it is by trading on exchanges. I still hope on long term investment, but am going to keep my STEEM liquid.

I will continue to vote for those authors who still post on STEEM blockchain even now when the price is down. But I will test all possible STEEM competitors.
