My Thirst for Trek
August 5, 2017 will be the sweetest day of my life. On that very day I have enjoyed the most beautiful sight of Bangladesh. I never went to Sylhet. When I saw some of photos of Ratargul, Sylhet uploaded by some of my friends, I fell in love with its beauty. An invisible force always inspired me to go there to explore it. At last I became successful to enjoy its heavenly beauty by my own eyes. I fell in love again. When I went to Sylhet, Ratargule Swamp forest along with four other friends, I realized then the true beauty of Bangladesh is still found there. I thanked God that HE has given me a chance to see that. I am gonna share some information about this place to make you clear.
Ratargul Swamp Forest is a freshwater swamp forest
located in Gowain River, Fatehpur Union, Gowainghat ,
Sylhet, Bangladesh. It is the only swamp forest located in
Bangladesh and one of the few freshwater swamp forest in
the world. The forest is naturally conserved under the
Department of Forestry, Govt. of Bangladesh.
Its area is 3, 325.61 acre including 504 acre declared as the
animal sanctuary in 1973. It is known as the Amazon of
Bangla and Sundarbans of Sylhet. This only swamp forest in
Bangladesh is located 26 km far from Sylhet. The forest's
name comes from the word, "Rata" or "Pati" tree, used by
the locals of Sylhet.(Wikipedia)
