Halfway Through The January 30 Day Challenge

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

I've been posting every day since the beginning of January which was a challenge I silently decided to participate in as I was really struggling to be active and consistent on the platform. I'm ecstatic to report that I still haven't fallen off the wagon despite the fact that I find it quite difficult as I'm trying my best not to post too much nonsense.

The two weeks so far have been quite tiring, but I'm happy with what I've done with my time on the steem blockchain so far so I decided to take a little look back. I recently stumbled upon a very nice little tool by @steemreports that creates a word cloud for your most used words in your latest posts, so here's mine:

Despite the fact that having to do a post every day is a bit grueling, I am relatively satisfied with my output.

The Contest/Challenge I started last week got a much stronger response than what I expected and quickly became the first post of mine to get over 100 upvotes and over 100 comments. Of course, this is a bit of an artificial feat as both of those were part of the requirements for eligibility for the SBD prizes. Going through the entries took a lot of my time this week as there was not just one post per participant to check out, but 6 (1 #my2017top5 post + 5 old posts mentioned there). Still, all the posts were a pleasure to go through as people had really put effort into choosing their best work from 2017. Picking the winner is going to be the biggest challenge of all. If you haven't participated yet, you still have a bit of time to do so an make my choice even more difficult.

Additionally, those two weeks gave me the chance to create some things to hopefully benefit the community - like a bunch of steemSTEM animated signature gifs and a Steem Stats Animated Video Infographic that came sixth in @sndbox's Infographic Contest - check out the other winners and honorable mentions, their work is great! I'm also happy to say that I had my first post that got some really long and insightful comments that I appreciated a lot on a bit of a legal/ethical/political hypothetical.

I really appreciate everybody who has supported me in any way so far!

The 30 Days January Challenge I'm participating in was initiated by @dragosroua and I recommend anybody struggling with consistency to try one of those (it shouldn't matter what day you start on). Another option you might enjoy in the post-every-day category is @tonyr's Alphabet Art Challenge which wasn't my cup of tea simply because of the art part.

Well done so far, though the next 17 days will be the hardest!.
Only kiddin'! Now you're in your stride it'll be all plain sailing to the finish.

Oh, I have no doubt that there will be some hard days ahead, but I'm determined to stick with it. Hopefully I'll carry the habit of regular post into the future too.

Thank you for your support! I truly appreciate it! :)

wow!!! Thank you for giving this smart little tool!

I immediately tried it and look, what came out:

You should make a little study with all the cloud-results of people giving you:)) I would think of it as very interesting - in particular of finding similarities. Reminds me for some reason of Peter Kruse, a German guy who dealt with swarm intelligence. If you like, I'll give you a youtube-link.

I am impressed by your method to discipline yourself. Wish you further a good muse for writing and coming up with content.

Thanks again for your work on steemstem related signature gifs. I am glad I stumbled over you in the chat! :)

Yeah, this tool is pretty nifty and fun! :) I guess it would be hard to do the study based on it because you only get an image, but not any of the data. But I think it's a very good way to create an image for self-reflection posts and I'm sure I'll use it in the future too.

HaHa!! Yes, it is obviously something for me, too!
That's why I got interested as it is, as you say, a good way for self reflection. Do you know, who built the tool? I couldn't find a name there on the site.

ah. and btw: your video is cool! Simple, cheerful, optimistic and light-footed - why haven't you made an own article about it? It somehow disappears here between your other recommendations. I almost missed to click it (okay, that is not your fault:)) I would be interested how you made the video (what kind of program you used etc.) - do you know "prezi"? That is also a good tool to create animated presentations. Kind of 3d feeling watching them.

I think this tool alongside all the other tools on steemreports.com were built or are at least operated by @andybets and there is also a @steemreports account.

The promo video was it's standalone post and it actually did pretty well for my standards because of the strong vote it got as a reward for the competition. I make the videos and the animated signatures using the same animations.

Duhhh.... , how embarrassing. I finally see now that your video got its own post. I am sometimes confused and scattered like Professor Bienlein from Tintin. Unfortunately, not so brilliant. LOL

I can't stop typing names into the cloud-word thing. It's so funny!

Wow that's a great keep up what are you doing I will follow you to see what are you posting every day

ahannn!! great one...upvote and followed to see your post everyday

Don't lie, you did neither. This type of comments will not get you far and might even receive some flags in the future.

Check it again!!!!

I did not write you to get your upvote, but to warn you to stay away from spammy behavior. The blockchain records everything and everything is transparent so it's very easy to see that when I wrote you, you had only written about upvoting or following, but hadn't done so until I pointed out the inaccuracy of your comment. I hope you'll adjust your behavior and will do well on this amazing platform.

sorry that was just because of some network issue....other wise i really like your post

Well, I'm sorry if I have accused you prematurely. Generally speaking, you don't need to mention upvoting or following in your comments as it doesn't comes across well as it looks like asking for reciprocity.

Hi! I saw the animations you made for digitalking.
is great! will you do for me? fallow upvote reestem jozef230
