"Journey" - a surrealistic approach to a Sunday afternoon stroll

in #art7 years ago

A whimsical painting on glass I did back in 2005. Although legs/high heels had become a sort of "signature" already, lets start with a closeup of the head, as it is the most significant in this picture...

I was very much into ancient Egypt at the time and the headpiece was inspired by one of the gods. And of course, there is another one of my favorite subjects.. find it?

Very interesting headdress. There's a definite "steampunk" vibe here, which I'm a big fan of. And of course, there's those amazing legs and heels. I love that you've sneaked a couple fishies in there too - and with legs! HA!

Thank you for liking it. And yes, Fish is the answer!!

Very nice painting! Thank you for sharing!

One of my favorite themes... Thank you :-)

Very surreal, with some steampunk!

Thanks a lot... had no idea of steampunk when I painted it, but yes, I love steampunk (now) :-)

Great painting, I love the surrealistic style. Haven't seen much surrealists on steemit yet, definately refreshing! Also, I just discovered your channel - I'm also involved in the art scene, kind of. However, I don't make beautiful digital paintings as you do 😉 But I'm trying to be helpful by publishing articles about artists, the art scene & a daily Dosis of inspiration and motivation 😇 Would love to have a chat with you and publish your wisdom or how you got into surrealism and paintings for aspiring steemers and artists. Just send me a message in steemit chat or reply here if you're interested!

Thanks a lot for your detailed comment. Looks like we are both German... continuing in English, so more people who might be interested can follow our comments.

Just to prevent misunderstanding.. 99% of my work is traditional, not digital. I mainly use two techniques, Hinterglas and a more old masterly approach for my work on canvas

Interesting blog, you got. Not sure if I have a lot of wisdom to share, but yes, lets have a chat.. be it here or on Steemit chat.. I'm there with the same username :-)

Yes, english is better I think ( I also learnt so much from silently reading comments somewhere) . I actually really like traditional work - although I am more contemporary rooted. I mainly work on stuff that I call "organic glitches" which can be regarded as a kind of bridge between traditional and digital. While glitches occur as errors in data transfers, I 'provoke' those through physical work like water scanning and other. Never heard of Hinterglas tho! Very great technique, I'll definately do more research to that. I'm sure you have something interesting to tell, I'll hit u up on steemit.chat !

i can't find it, because i don't know you just long enough to know the answer :-( But great artwork! I wonder if you sold it yet..
See you!

Forgot to mention... yes, sold it a long time ago. Same year I painted it.

Hehe... you should have tried this: http://steemit.pics/IMGManager/view.php?N=1&username=%40Reinhard-schmid Works nicely with your work too :-)

oh i didn't know about this page. Thank You ! :-)

Nice, isn't it? You are welcome :-)

the stuff I learn by reading all the comments! I didn't know this page either, checked out my own stuff, now I saved it to my favorites.
Sold a long time ago? Myself, I am sitting on stuff I painted some 30 years ago, haha.
Fuchs once said (his Paris days): "Eine Regentraufe voll unverkäuflicher Bilder".

Are you threatening me!? My bungole will not wait!

Hehe.. man lernt nie aus :-)

I love this one as well, very cool :)

Wow, you are definitely talented. I'm an aspiring painter here, hoping to improve my skills one day.

Thank you. You do well, what you do often ;-)
