Chicago Louie gone – he passed over today

in #tribute7 years ago (edited)

My friend who is a neighbor has a dog who is being put to sleep as I write this. He has been a constant in our lives for almost four years now. We call him Chicago Louie.

Like my friend says they have been through a lot together. So sad for all of us to have to say goodbye.

Those of you who are animal lovers know the pain of letting go of a best friend. My first and only direct experience in putting an animal asleep with an Aussie. His name was Jerry Little Bear a true friend for almost 12 years.

He did not know what we were doing and the weather was much like today frozen and cold. Jerry had hip dysphagia that was worsening and making his life miserable. After all his entire favorite thing to do was run and catch the ball.

Some of you have seen my posts about Max my Rat Terrier sometimes referred to a Rat Terrorist because of his energy levels. He is a little more relaxed now that he is older, three years old to be exact.

Back to Chicago Louie, a Dachshund, we call them wiener dogs in the states.

When Louie and Max met he did not like Max and it took almost 6 months for him to be friends with Max. I am not sure if Max will know Louie is gone now. He won’t see him in our front yard anymore.

I believe dogs have souls and their energy passes over like every other living being. Is there a heaven for dogs I don’t know but I like to think so.

I wrote this in memory of Chicago Louie so he will always have a memorial in Steemit.

Have you ever had to say goodbye to a pet?

Words that someone spoke to me after putting our dog down helps a lot.

They need your help. They cannot do it for themselves; you must help them at times.

thank you and yes pets become friends and family

For me, I have experienced this experience twice
The first when a dog was stolen from me was 6 months old
And the second when my dog died was small, does not exceed two months

sorry you went through these things...do you have a dog now?

my friend says they have been through a lot together. So sad for all of us to have to say goodbye.

I found this part like a quote well saying

I know it is so sad for all of us today. Thank you for your comment.

I know the feeling of losing a pet, it was difficult, we had a dog named Woddy, a very special dog, she does her "woowooh" voice everytime she sees us. It is just sad when she's not there anymore wagging tail and do the things that she used to do..

I can hear her in my mind ... woowhooh..so cute...you were so lucky to have had her..the photo is precious

very difficult
Parting of a pet
Too much to play with
This is my cat I can not imagine a day
I go home and I can not find her
I love her so much
It name Sawsan

so sweet how you dressed your friend

She has many clothes
You bought the dress
And his aunt at the tailor
And designed for her according to her book
And in this picture was sleeping with me 😍😍

Dogs depend on us their entire lives. We need to be strong when they need us most... the heart breaking big circle of life.

that is the best way to put it..the circle of life

I'm sorry for your loss. The little furries make our lives so much better and it's sad when they pass.

Your quote about helping them at all times resonates with me. I have 2 cats, the youngest has a spine injury from when he was a kitten and I 'm currently posting about his journey of getting acupuncture and laser therapy. You really do need to help them and sometimes that means doing things that they don't enjoy, like having to keep a bandage on a wound or the much hated travelling to the vet. If it came to a point where nothing could be done for Teddy and he was in pain I would have him pts so that he would not suffer.

Having a pet means you have to be the parent and make difficult decisions. But they bring so much joy to our lives and I couldn't imagine not having my cats.

Your pup might mourn his friend. You may see him laying about for a while. Growing up we had a Boerbul ( Mastiff type dog) who lost her Scottie friend and when she was mourning she went in search of a new friend, jumping the fence and bringing home 2 live chickens and then eventually a kitten of her own.

you are right I do see a change in my dog..it is so cold here..when it warms up I suspect he will wonder why Louie is not outside

Just give him lots of loves and treats. Seeing a dog mourn for his friend is heartbreaking.

That's a nice tribute you did here.
May him rest in peace.

Aw man, I hate this. Breaks my heart. I have my pawed best friend right now asleep like an angel,I can't fathom my life here without her. It's bearable because of her. I wouldn't be able to place her "to sleep" when the time comes. I lost my two childhood pawed friends and it was so painful I never wanted to get close to another, took my ages for another to steal my heart. Dogs (cats, all animals) are for us to protect and love.
Nice tribute to Louie ❤ Rebecca.
