Episode #5 Slow Grind of Leadership (VIDEO 5:24)
As a leader, there are times that you need to correct others. In a business setting, what does that look like? What's the best way to approach it? There are a few things you can do. However, my top two strategies are:
- Correct the action through coaching and feedback.
- If its a reoccurring issue you there might need to be disciplinary action taken.
In the video I outline my strategy for both scenarios.
The most important thing to remember is that employees are people with human emotions. Remember that you're not dealing with robots, you're dealing with human beings and they deserve to be treated with respect.
You spend a lot of time with your employees and that time should be pleasant.

Hi @ray4u! I really enjoyed your vlog here:) I always found, as a teacher and restaurant owner, that if I respected my students/employees and positively reinforced them, the respect and willingness to please me came back twofold. Like everywhere in life I guess, you get what you give! Cheers:)
So True! You are a teacher/restaurant owner too!?!?!? Fun combination huh?
Well to be honest, I took a leave from teaching to run the restaurant, but employees and students...it's all the same:) Some days, teaching seemed easier haha
The restaurant business is tough. There are a lot of similarities.
Awesome stuff @ray4u@ I've just recently brought up a similar topic too in my latest vlog, about how leaders can help underperforming employees. Certainly, it is vital for leaders to bear in mind that everyone is also a human being with emotions like themselves, and that everyone including themselves yearns for respect from their peers and those around them.
Keep vlogging, really liking your stuff here!
Very cool!!!!! Thanks for following me! I have to admit that there are times that I sometimes I am too direct and forget to follow my own advice.
It's cool @ray4u. Nobody's perfect - the key is to realize our mistakes ASAP and continue working on them so that we'll do better the next time. Cheers mate!!
Some good stuff in here @ray4u! Keep it up!
