This festival was organized in 1993 for the first time, and during this time the festival won many awards in its own category.
Sziget means island in Hungarian, and this is where the name is coming from.

Why is this better than other European festivals?
- Most of the European medium or big size festivals are located in the middle of nowhere.
Well, not SZIGET. From the exit of the festival, you can be at the center of Budapest within 20-25 minutes and go for a sightseeing in this wonderful city. If you take a boat it's even faster! - It's cheap! Compared to other festivals it's really cheap. A glass of beer is 2-2.5€!
The 7 days ticket is 325€.
Compared to Tomorrowland's 250€ ticket price for 2 days, SZIGET is 'free'. - You can find programs 24/7 on the island. The party never stops!
- If you get bored of the concert, you can go a visit Cirque du Sziget or other fun programs.

There are probably way more Dutch people than Hungarian :D
But there are many people from France and UK too for sure. Also from New Zealand and Australia.
