It was only late 90s I discovered Brian Eno, one of the most important artist driving synth music and ambient style. My discovery was related to the later, his ambient series of albums and more specifically his album "Ambient 1: Music for Airports". An album of about 45 minutes in length, with 4 tracks, that actually was played for a short period of time in the Marine Air Terminal of New York's LaGuardia Airport. The idea for the album started when Brian had to wait in the Cologne airport for hours sometime in mid 70s while he had to listen to stupid music. His composition was designed to be continuously looped as a sound installation, with the intent to diffuse the tense, anxious atmosphere of an airport terminal.
Brian Eno started his career playing synth in the glam rock band "Roxy Music" early 70s after which he took on a solo career, slowly including ambient style in his works. He collaborated frequently with guys like Robert Fripp, David Bowie and David Byrne. From the 70s onwards he also worked with many more big names in collaborations with and created production for names like Talking Heads, John Cale, Harold Budd, U2, Coldplay, Laurie Anderson, and Grace Jones. In many ways he was right in the middle of popular music at the time, however most of the time more or less behind the scenes. Reason for many of us, not knowingly exposed to him; At least that applies to me.

Looking for the album, I discovered also another version with the statement it is a time stretch version. I'm not sure if they just slowed down the album, or they modified it as well. Maybe you can tell? I just know that the slow version I truly like as well. It becomes very dreamy therefore a perfect for meditation.

Absolutely! I cannot believe I discovered this guy so late in my life, but then again, his early works was difficult to discover pre-internet time and I think I started hunting for the early electronic artists when I found my ways in the electronic dance music.
I think this might interest you as well if you haven't heard it.
I'm thinking of uploading my own ambient recordings and slowing them down using REAPER's advanced time stretch algorithms as the fidelity and pitch can be preserved to quite an incredible degree.
How cool! How slowing down a crocket sounds can create some spooky sound that would fit eg a syfy move abut space!
It definitely opens up a whole world for sound pallets.
It's worth noting that while synthesis is great for ambient music, there exists a means to the same end in sampling and manipulating organic sounds.
If you were to take a sample of water droplets into a bucket or a metal on metal scratch and reverse it, you get a new and unique sample, then to further challenge yourself, only use compression, pitch shift and time stretch to get the sound you're looking for.
A lot of producers are quick to throw on expensive plugins to get a great sound but neglect the simple tools available to everyone that make for great—not to mention unique—high-fidelity audio.

Excellent post. I've been a fan of Eno for decades, and he has consistently been creative and innovative.
Music for Airports remains one of my all-time favorite albums, but other of his albums are also great. These days, I still listen to Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy, as well as his collaboration with John Cale, Wrong Way Up.
Also, his production credits include albums for dozens of musicians. Maybe hundreds.
All in all, a great artist with an amazing discography.
