छत्रपति शिवाजी हमेशा अपने गुरु की सेवा व आज्ञा के लिए
तैयार रहते थे लालायत रहते थे। एक दिन समरथ रामदास भिक्षा के
लिए राजमहल पहुंचे, राजा शिवाजी के भोजन करने का समय
दिन के ग्यारह बज रहे थे। गुरुदेव की आवाज सुनकर राजा व रानी
ने कि "हमारे यहां पधारे थे
सोचा साक्षात परमगर परमात्मा भिक्षार्थ
वे विश्व के पालनहार हैं। अब में इनको क्या भिक्षा। देक, रानी
चतुर व ज्ञानी थी। उसने कहा, महाराज यह राजपाट उनका दिया।
हुआ है, उनकी चीज ही उनको दे दो।तब शिवाजी ने तत्काल अपनी कलम से राजपाट दान में
लिखकर गुरुजी को प्रणाम कर कागज झोली में डाल दिया। समरथ
ने कहाराजन् यह क्या कर दिया १' शिवाजी ने कहा प्रभु मेरा तो
कुछ ही नहीं है। ये सब कुछ आपका ही है, आपको सौंपने में क्या
लगता है मेरा । समरथ ने अपने प्रिय शिष्य को हृदय से लगाया और
कहा, धन्य हो, ऐसा सच्चा भक्त ही ऐसा कर सकता है।
