🌟ANTIQUE THURSDAYS - A GORGEOUS STAINED GLASS LANTERN 🌟

Happy Thursday, y'all! It's been a while since I've done an #antiquethursday and I was photographing this stunning lantern today at work, and felt that I had to share it with you. Oh, and it's Thursday!

We bought this lantern somewhere in Europe - Belgium probably, and it is all completely original, even the beautiful stained glass.

The frame itself is made from very beautiful wrought iron, with a quite delicate pattern on the body of the light. When we bought it, most of the glass was cracked or loose, and we were actually going to take out the coloured glass and put clear in. I am so glad we didn't do this - I have a contact who is a glass blower, and can also do repairs on stained glass, which is very specialist.

I sent the light to her to fix, and she repaired it so wonderfully, you can't even see where it was repaired.

The glass was all put together with lead, which really shows its age. I estimate this lantern to be anywhere between 150 and 200 years old, based on the shape, style and the fact that it is made with lead.

What do you think? Would you have this in your home? It is very antique looking, and so obviously can only fit in some homes - but I love it so much, I would definitely try to find a place for it - perhaps even the portico.

Thanks for tuning into my Antique Thursday post, I hope you've enjoyed it, and learnt something!

It's wondrous. I think the answer to your question is "Do I have enough money that I won't care if this stunning piece is left outside in the elements?"

Note that is a classic 'answer a question with a question' :)

What a resource to have a repair person of that magnitude on tap. Way cool!

Thanks for a terrific Thursday piece!

Oops @princessmewmew! I cannot take credit for that punctuation post ;)
Love that lamp, it's absolutely stunning! I love blending old with new so would most definitely find a place for a beauty like that somewhere!

hello there .. @princessmewmew
nice piece too big for where I live.. I think it would be nice outside too.

Very beautiful thing! I would hang it on the veranda - the most successful place!

You know, that piece would work in my kitchen or in the braai room. It is gorgeous! And thank you so much for the mention!

Wow... that is a beautiful light! I would dearly love to have it in my house.. but I'm not totally sure where it would go! It could be a nice welcome light, for the hall or just outside the door?

Wow, what a beautiful stained glass. I didn't realize the glass itself could actually be repaired. Would love to find something like this, it would match my front door, lol I took classes years ago working with stained glass, it is quite an art and takes a great deal of practice, patience and skill :) Beautiful @princessmewmew

Its really big, but truly pretty. I surely know that it can be place at my home xD it'll take the 20% of my house's space xD but it's a really beautiful antique! Congrats
