Steemit Engagement Challenge 4 | STEEM GROWTH CONTEST - Theme: How many hours have you spent on Steemit in the last week

Gosh what a shocker this challenge was!

I’ve come to the realization that I am in deep trouble with my family.

Let me start by answering the questions.

1. Do you provide a special time for Steemit? Nope


2. Do you just surf the Steemit platform when you have free time? Yip


3. Has Steemit become your job to earn? Yip


4. How many hours have you spent on steemit in the last week? Plenty!

And now you ask me to write about time management.

Let me be honest, I suck when it comes to time management. What I am good at is “to do” lists. This my family knows to well. There is always a “to do” list for everything, even for going to town.

My personal drive is making those ticks on those “to do” lists and not how I manage my time.
I want the job done!

➤ They say time management improves self-discipline – so does my “to do” list.
➤ They say time management improves the quality of your work – debatable for me.
➤ They say time management improves your stress levels – there is no better stress reliever than putting that red tick to paper.
➤ They say that through time management you can get more done – I know that what I put on my “to do” do lists is what I am capable of doing.

That is where I close my argument on time management.

“This contest aims to find out how many hours of effective time you spent on Steemit on average in the last week”

Now this is where things starts getting interesting.

Before I give you the breakdown of my hours I first need to explain how I’ve measured the hours in the specific areas of interest.

Writing posts:

To write a quality post takes time and effort especially during these challenges. It is not a case of an idea that pop into your head and you can start writing.
Most of the challenges took me out of my comfort zone. I had to do research in some cases, go through thousands of photos, go to places and I had to make things.

Reading post written by fellow Steemians and replying on them:

As per the https://steemseven.xyz/ tool my comment count for last week was 326. (7 days)

At least 70% of these comments were on the post of fellow Steemians. To round it off I will say that it boils down to 230 replies for the week.

When these votes are divided equally into seven days it will be an average of 32 articles read and replied on a daily basis.

Reading messages directed to my posts – those notifications:

The remaining 30% of replies is where I reply on notifications on my blog directly from the posts I have made. The sum will be 326 – 230 = 96 direct replies.

When these replies are broken down into seven days it will be an average of 13 replies per day which I make on engagements on my posts.

Reading new information on Steemit:

I love reading and I am forever looking for interesting articles. What kept me busy the last few weeks were those Blockchain challenges. As a newbie to the Blockchain concept I had to do a lot of reading on Steemit. There was a couple of times where I felt like giving up.

Activities in support groups:

I am actively a member and involved in four WhatsApp and four Telegrams groups.

Activities in support and tutoring fellow Steemians:

I love helping fellow Steemians and it is great to see how they are improving by following my advice. Currently I am helping six Steemians with their posts.

Activities as a curator:

I find being a curator extremely rewarding for me as a person but it is indeed no easy task. On the day that you are curating you cannot do anything else. You have to be willing to sacrifice 12 hours at least.

It is very difficult to give a complete breakdown but I am sure if you go through the criteria you will see what we have to do to find those perfect post.

There must be some of my fellow curating friends who can do it quicker but I have a soft heart. I want to vote on all the posts therefore it takes me a llloonnnggg time to read them all especially when you have to translate and Google only allows you 1,000 characters.

I have not taken in account the extra hours I spend on curating as a team leader.

Let’s put on the info together and see where it brings us regarding the hours per day and also for the week I have spent on Steemit in the last week.

By the way, my husband doesn’t agree with me. He says it is way over 100 hours.
Can you now understand why I say I am in trouble with my family?

In my opinion;

The benefits of the Steemit Engagement Challenge

➤ There are so many more quality posts.
➤ Steemians are taken out of their comfort zones.
➤ With each post I am learning something new.
➤ It is great to copycat the markdown styles of fellow Steemians.
➤ I have made new friends from all the corners of the globe.
➤ The interaction and communication between fellow Steemians improved tenfold.
➤ You will reap the rewards! I have seen Steemains receiving votes who has never received votes from The7Up and this warms my heart.

Suggestions to improve these challenges

➤ It is not always possible to write a post with each day, especially when you have a 9 to 5 job. Changing to seven posts for the week instead of seven post, one for each day, will for sure help fellow Steemians.
➤ Please do away with selfies! Not everybody likes it. I know of a few Steemians who is not participating because of this.
➤ Please do away with posting on social media platforms. How can I participate if I do not have social media accounts and have no intention to create them?
➤ A suggestion would be to set a standard rule of 10% donation to all the participating communities as currently there are some of 0% and some with 20%.
➤ In fact, set standard rules for all the challenges.

Steemit is my job and I love it!
