A Gale Force Storm!steemCreated with Sketch.

This is how the day started at sunrise!

I will show you the gradual build up to the expected cold front that hit the Cape yesterday.
We were warned by the weather services to expect cold gale force winds and flooding in the low lying areas of the Western Cape Province.
Sure enough, the cold front hit us by force.
Let's have a look!

At around mid morning the first wave of clouds rolled over!

It didn't last long but left behind a darkened sky!

The sun was back and our little guy "Troy" was laid out as an anti freeze attempt.

I also used the opportunity to get a clear moon shot!

Soon the big boys started to be hustled in by the fierce winds!

Ominous dark clouds stated to release their water freights.

It all became steadily worse and I was soon as wet as a happy duck!

Interim bursts of water were controlled by the winds!

Finally the setting sun refused to be blanketed by the rushing clouds and the sun put up a spectacular show.

I will of course do a separate post about the amazing sunset. Shots taken of course in a softer moth rain between the serious downpours.
It was my first storm in this area and although the wind tried its best to rip the old oak tree apart, it is still defiantly standing.

A weird thing that I saw last night late was that the guinea fowls slept in the highest branches of the oak tree. Even though some smaller branches below them were ripped off by the winds. Rain came down in steady sheets of water overnight, but early this morning all of the guineas as usual were waiting for me to feed them.

Even the one surviving baby, who is now a juvenile was with them and I was so glad to see that he endured. Today was a bit tamer as the winds were not so strong, but it is still raining here as I am writing this now. Good news is that it will clear up overnight and a sunny day is expected tomorrow.

NOTE: I just saw this report about the wreckages of the storm;

A kind thank you for this!
Blessings and upvoted!

Howdy sir papilloncharity! those are some spectacular shots! The last one of the sunset is just stunning. Hey Troy looks more like a fox than a dog.

Howdy Sir @janton, I also think his mother ran around in her wild days with a few cunning foxes hahaha.
Blessings!

oh ok, lol! No wonder he looks like that! Very cute dog though.

WOw what contrasts in the sky during the day mother nature is truly amazing and great to hear the guinea fowls survived the storm

True JJ, this is indeed a strange place and we are here 11 months already.
After the emotional wreckage of seeing all their babies disappear, I keep a steady eye on the remaining one and he is now in his late teens.
Strong and flying all over the place.
Blessings!

Now that he is in his teens lets hope he is strong and remains safe :)

Been feeding him "quick grow" maize and corn my friend.
I think he is beyond the danger zone now that he is flying.
Blessings!

That’s good to hear

Fantastic sequence of photos. Looking forward to seeing the sunset.

Wow, you guys had a mother fluffer of a storm. I miss the Cape of Storms. Islands have weird weather. Neither hot nor cold.. And a windy winter.

Thank you for the visit my friend.
Ah! So you are familiar with the Cape of storms are you?
My sister in law worked as a conservationist in the Seychelles islands and she came back with many stories.
What are you doing on the islands?
Blessings!

@papilloncharity your name reminds me of the book Papillion.. Did you ever read it? 🤔
I am a Cape Town born and bred girl. Moved all around the coast of SA following my fisherman husband. From coast to coast, Namibia to Natal. Now in Mauritius where he is a captain on a fishing vessel. I'm not allowed to work so I blog and take photos and act as a 'Steem Terminal' for the newbies on the island. Who knows where we'll go next. I love Cape Town. It's my soul place. Will be visiting in November for a Month or two. Bedtime here so catch up again soon.

Dogs taking to patch of sun to thaw out in front on a neat wooden gate, clever little guy.

Those clouds turn wicked so quickly, not something one enjoys seeing coming in the wrath ripping everything asunder.

Fowls are clever, higher branches imminent sign of flooding, stay safe and warm Stephen, enjoy the rest of the day.

That storm was certainly something Lady Joan.
There's something else hunting the guineas when they sleep on the ground at night and I haven't found it yet. Not cats, might be a fox.
Something that also feasted on the babies. The one remaining one is now in his late teens, strong and flying all over the place.
Blessings!

Could be a multitude of animals either wildcat (they sighted a Serval cat in our area in the last couple of weeks) Caracal jump extremely high making the birds go higher up the tree, Black backed jackal, Owls the Guinea fowl are quite fast, have to learn even quicker.

So many questions, so few answers in the wild, keeps us more aware of what is lurking around in the dark.

Sooner or later I will get whatever it is Lady Joan.
Especially now in winter with its hunger.
It would have to be sooner, before the end of JULY, as our time here runs out at the end of June, but the landlady said that we can stay for another month.
They are slowly renovating the place to turn it into an estate agency.
Blessings!

Look at the second picture, magnificient. Those bog clouds and the bird in between.

Thank you Vibi and wait until you see the sunset that I will post tomorrow (Monday)
Storm clouds driven fast across the face of the sun with magnificent colors.
Blessings!

You have amazing eye. Great work. Moon shot is stunning.

Amazing how a day can change in so many ways!

Me and the storms...We seem to circle each other this early summer in the North-ish. I have to be careful not to make too many circles myself so that no cyclons are my fault.

May your weather do no harm.

We live in a place called the "Cape of Storms" my friend and it comes with the territory. But slowly getting used to it, as we are here now for almost 1 year.
Please take care not to start any cyclones Lol
Blessings and thank you!
