WE JUST GOT OUR "STEEM-POWERED" CULVERT - PROGRESS ON THE HOUSE SITE!

in #life7 years ago (edited)

For those of you who do not know, the @papa-pepper tribe is currently staying in a guest house near the land that we just purchased.

In the near future, we are planning on building a house for our family. We've got a lot of work ahead of us, but praise God that steemit is able to help us reach our goals. After having a bad morning yesterday, I had a great afternoon. Yes, I was sweating up a storm getting things done, but I also noticed that a trailer full of 24" culverts was heading up the drive.

My good friend and neighbor @jaguarlife is also hard at work building a home for his family. Recently he mentioned that he was going to pick up some culverts for his driveway. I jumped on the opportunity and had him get one for me too! The most incredible part is that money I gave him for the culvert was provided by some of my earnings on steemit, hence the "STEEEM-Powered" culvert!

With this culvert installed, we can now access the building site and the area that will be the driveway from the gravel road that runs the length of the property. This will make things much easier for us. Also, not only did @jaguarlife pick up the culvert and have it delivered, he used the mini-excavator and skid-steer that he had to install it for me. For the most part, I got to watch and take pictures. Don't worry, though, I can supervise like a boss! LOL.

Anyway, this was a huge step forward for us. This post will mostly be a photo-post of the process. Enjoy the photos! I also mixed in a few GIFs.

HERE COMES MAMA!

As an added bonus, I let @mama-pepper drive the @little-peppers across the culvert as our first traffic. I told her to get used to it, because we hope to be using it for years to come!

Also, even though he doesn't know it yet, I'll be giving the liquid SBD/STEEM payout from this post to @jaguarlife for all of his hard work. It took him about an hour total to put this in for me, and when I asked him what his hourly rate was, he laughed and told me not to worry about it. What a good friend and great neighbor! He should be joining us shortly, as he has created an account but has yet to post. Make sure to thank him and welcome him when he gets here!

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

It is always a fun day when you get to work with heavy machinery.

Lol, some things never change.

I especially like your "verification" photo for today. The shape from the inside, with you looking in, kind of reinforces your post about shapes and kindness. I like.

LOL, right! Shapes and kindness! Good point!

What an awesome project! I could never have imagined what this process would like like. Thanks for sharing, @papa-pepper. I'm not much of an outdoors man myself, so your posts make me feel a lot better. Congrats on the Steem powered culvert!

its definitely a lot easier using an excavator vs. having to dig the trench by hand. been there....not fun :)

Big difference in the amount of effort and time it takes.

First, congrats on the successful installation and testing of the culvert! Looks good @papa-pepper!

Second, it is just awesome to read that Steemit is enriching the lives of so many people. That's what I love about this platform. And you're doing a great job here, I hope your house build turns out great and hopefully Steem will help pay for most of the work as well!

Steem On!! :)

interesting stuff good hard work

That looks like a ton of work, but you are going about it the right way! The more you can nail the "foundation" type items from the beginning, the less time and energy you will have to spend on maintenance instead of the rest of the homestead. I have to ask though.... how are you handling the heat? As a Yooper, I think I would have melted by now!

that looks good man and very interesting.

Nice project good luck😊😊😊
