SHARING THE HARVEST WITH THE ANIMALS - EVERYONE EATS!
Just more of not letting anything go to waste.
When I grab a snack, often I'm not the only one who gets to eat. Not only do the @little-peppers often swoop in for a mouthful, but the animals are usually willing to sample a taste too. Here is one such example from earlier today.
USE IT ALL!
Earlier I was enjoying some time in my garden and decided to harvest a nice, big Daikon Radish. After examining it, I thought that it would best to share with some of my wooly friends, who live nearby.
Since I was only interested in the bottom half of the radish, all of the greens on the top were available to be used as a snack for my Jacob's Sheep ewes. Several of them came running right over. Blaze especially enjoyed it, but others joined in too.
After the top was eaten off, I gave it a rinse and was able to enjoy my part of the plant. Between the livestock, poultry, and compost, there is always a good home for scraps or leftovers. Although living a greener lifestyle was not our main focus with our lifestyle transition, it is a nice byproduct!
As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

Chic article. I learned a lot of interesting and cognitive. I'm screwed up with you, I'll be glad to reciprocal subscription))
Nice post @papa-pepper. I have come across a number of recipes that actually use the green tops of the Daikon radish. Very nutritional too. Great animal fodder too of course, lucky animals are getting nutrient dense greens regularly. Every one is happy! 🌈🦋🌴❤️
Sharing is caring, soon those sheep will share you some wool and a tasty meat.

It is wonderful when you can produce zero garbage/waste. Once every few months we have maybe a quarter of a garbage bag of stuff that has to go to a landfill. All other waste or by-products of animals or plants are used up on the homestead. It didn't start out that way but within a year we were seeing a decline in the garbage.
I can't wait for the future! We're already seeing a decline, and we're just getting started!
This is what we do a lot of times with our cattle, rabbits, and chickens. Needless to say, that between the three, we can usually find a will participant to each the parts we do not. Haha!
