Landscape Photography: the tipping point, Royal National Park's creek falling into the sea: Sydney, Australia

There are 30 known waterfalls that drop straight into the sea and one of them is in my backyard. At Royal National Park I sit on this cliff during whale season and watch Curracurrang Falls dip over the edge into the abyss below. In a gusty wind the water reverses direction and flies back up, rainbows breaking out as it catches the light while whales wave from the deep blue. There is magic to be had here.

Oh wow. Thank you. I am very flattered.

ohw that is so beautiful! and where you live, really a waterfall in your backyard? Jealous! ;-) Do you have more pictures of your backyard with waterfall ? do you use the @photocirkle tag? I would love to see them.

Ha ha well backyard is a saying for close by. This is my local national park. I have other shots from here. I am not happy with most of them though. It is a hard spot to photograph.

Thanks for the heads up on the tag. They featured this shot for which I am very grateful.

it is worth it! and close by is good enough :-)

Amazing shot!! Love this photo.

Thanks! I think this is one of my all time favourites. It was a remarkable day out there. The whales were breaching left and right and the wind gusts were blowing the waterfall back up the cliff.
