Another Bridge
A couple of posts ago, I showed you a bridge built for an Emperor's pleasure garden.
Wasn't it exquisite?
Later, on a visit to Switzerland, driving up a valley on our way to the village featured in my post Where am I? #7 https://steemit.com/bounty/@onceuponatime/where-am7-i
my brother, The Old Dog ( https://steemit.com/@kus-knee ), and I came across a rustic bridge built by and for the Swiss valley's peasant farmers. And guess what? In its own way, it had every bit as much charm and elegance as a bridge built for the Emperor of China!
After a time spent in the hot mountain sun admiring and photographing the bridge, we were ready to cool off in the stream below!
We took turns having a dip in the freezing glacier melt water as the other one guarded our clothes (can't be too careful around those damn tourists).

Is there a moral to my little post here?
The Emperors of China had dozens of bedrooms in their palaces and slept in a different bed each night, lessening chances of assassins knowing their whereabouts whilst they slept. But they were surrounded by, to us, unimaginable luxury.
Swiss peasants, on the other hand, probably slept soundly in the same bed each night.
Beauty was available to both. Which lifestyle would you have preferred?

As you may already know, I would have chosen the peasant's bed hands down and definitely way up there too by the same token! ;) So much joy, unless I would have been to tired tending to my fields to do so. Great post! Thanks for the pictures of this exquisite Swiss peasant work of art. What a treat again! All for one and one for all! Namaste :)
You're such a peasant, Eric. :-)
"Emperors of China had dozens of bedrooms in their palaces and slept in a different bed each night, lessening chances of assassins knowing their whereabouts whilst they slept" - that's just sick. There must be some reasons why everyone wants to kill you.
There are very few heads of state who can travel around unprotected these days. And most European royalty in the middle ages had their "food tasters" to take a first bite of a meal before indulging themselves.
There is more than one reason, I would imagine. But envy is certainly near the top of the list.
That bridge looks like a dragon , great art design.
Hey, you're the second commenter who thought so. Since I see dragons everywhere it's hard for me to say if that is something inherent in the design of this bridge :-)
Such a great place and the water is so clean! That's a great place to stay for a long time. Thanks for sharing it.
Very cool, I recolonize the oven lol
Thanks for sharing my friend :-)
Always a pleasure.
Gorgeous! I need spring to be here right now! Ha, I do live in a very scenic and post-able area, just not in the winter. I love this, it makes me forget the grey skies and snow plows, thank you :) Adding you to my list for more distraction from the looonngg upstate NY winter :)
Make a post with some winter photographs. They can be very beautiful too!
After a fresh snowfall, yes I agree...but lately what we have is grey skies and freezing rain! Blech. Not pretty, I assure you :) The snow leftover from our last storm is pushed to the side of the road by plows and full of dirt, lovely it is not haha!
@onceuponatime which lifestyle? hmmmm.. none of the choices :D
would like that of the Emperor's minus the assassins though :D
Can't we just have it all - the same bed, the luxury minus the assassins?
For your next lifetime you can ask to be reborn as God Herself. Then you can create the world to be any way you want it. OK? There's just one catch - you can't violate your own rules lol - but other than that, go for it :-)
@onceuponatime hahahah
okay that's a good idea but the can't violate my own rules hmmm
not sure I can do that haha
That bridge must be very old.
Does it make you feel like such a youngster in comparison?
no but I'm fascinated how they build those old architecture wonders at their time.
have to imagine the one stone at the time. :-)
Yup, not good to mix your "stones" when working :-)
One at a time.
Good work!! Very nice post 😊
Flattery will get you places!
Cool old bridge. Looks like a Chinese dragon.
Have you been chasing the dragon?
Only in playing Dungeons and Dragons and as a martial arts black belt.
Well then, if you have a black belt you can have the bridge look like anything you like :-)
Well yes, I got a good one. But I'll will reply this weekend. Too much shit I have to deal with right now.
how's that? through force?
