I welcome you to steemit Big chef09, Anyone can be a cook but being a chef is a profession and Passion, yeah a chef decides,plans , coordinates and manages every resource to make sure there's delicious food for public or for an event.

When a chef is hired for an event, a lot needs to be put into consideration to make the event colorful. Is your packaging attractive? Are your workers smart? Do you have enough plates to serve people ? These are few things that should be considered by a chef.

Share your menu of the day you are hired as a chef for an event.

To be a chef is an interesting profession it is more interesting when you have connections and to crown it all you are good at what you are doing.
If I'm hired as a chef for an event, my plans will be to get the choice of food that may be needed for the event from there I will know what to cook. Let say I choose fried rice and salad here would be my menu.

  • salad ingredients
  • Rice
  • fried fish,meat or chicken.
  • water
  • Fruit juice.
  • Small chops.
  • Salad cream.

How did you acquire the ingredients?

The ingredients will be acquired from the money I will be paid. Before going to buy the ingredients I will make list of the things needed for the type of food that I want to prepare. Then when I received my payment everything will be acquired.

What are the challenges you encountered.Explain

As a chef there are lots of challenges encountered when preparing food for events.

  • Change in prices of goods. Presently, the prices of foodstuff is on the high side infact it's unpredictable, you can buy something today the next day the price will change, as a chef it will affect the gain that should be from the work. In some cases going back to request for more money is not easy.

  • More people other than agreed number. This is a big challenge to every chef, numbers of people to be cooked for will be given but at the end of the cooking the number of people will be much more than the food prepared. Then if the food did not get to the targeted people it becomes a problem to the chef.

  • Weather. Some chef cook in an open place using firewood, if it rains it will hinder the delivery of the food on time .

  • Debt. Some customers part pay for the work to be started,when the chef now manage to put things in place for the event the rest of the money will be history.

Will you quit being a chef if hired again for another event? Expatiate.

There's no job or something that fetches someone money without challenges. Sometimes this challenges helps us to learn how to be more calculative, plan well next time.

In this chef business no retreat no surrender, up, up I go, no quitting.

I choose not to quite because no food for a lazy man, if I quite today what then will I do without challenge, I will keep managing because one day everything will be alright. Bigger connections, and recognitions can come out from going to other events.

This work is not an easy one expecially when using firewoods to prepare them. It requires carefulness, technique, attention etc. but well, as a chef you know what to do and how to cope with the challenges in order to be patronize by another customer.
