The Diary Game||14-06-2024||Becoming a Goalkeeper for the first time and conceeding so much

I won't be able to sleep if I don't post this, because the picture may not come with the right words in another post, I was confused if making it a diary is the right option, let's move on

Don't blame me if I conceded so much and don't blame my teammate too, it was the first match of its kind for my team, and for me, it was my first after a decade, though I didn't leak this to them, if not I wouldn't have been part of the team, I can't remember the last time I put on a boot to play a match and come to think of it I don't even have any, even as at the time of this match, it was a trial, everyone had their fault, even me.

Sorry, this is how I choose to begin today, Last week Friday we played a friendly match against our sister church, a few days before now we were invited by them so we made plans, remember it was youth week in the Assemblies of God, Nigeria, and a lot of activities were ongoing within the country. Speaking of our sections this is what happened, a friendly match between IKOT mbonde and NUNG ukot itam, no other match was played after this, no trophy, it was just for the fun, nothing more.

There was no time to make plans, as the day was drawing near, so a player whom we later appointed captain over us formed a WhatsApp group and added people who showed interest in playing the match, a poll on the position of each person on the field was a drop on the WhatsApp group and we made a little jest over it, I didn't even know where to position myself since I haven't played soccer for years, I find the goalkeeper position fitting as I will be relaxed if the defence and midfield are strong, so on this note, I clicked on the goalkeeper's options, automatically I began the keeper that very day.

We gathered in the church and made a few passes thinking that we were going to play with teenagers, but surprisingly, the people we met were experienced footballers on which the football field was their home and balling their diet. Hahahaha

I was relaxed, after all, I am the goalkeeper running around in the field is what I was not doing today, If these people play well, I will be like the fans, standing to watch what is going on_ a soliloquize by me.

Unfortunately, my team didn't play well, a few minutes into the match I was fired a shot which I never expected, I blocked it but I felt the impact on my left shoulder, my agility rose, I knew I wasn't here for a joke or be a fan but a player. My adrenaline rose too, I became more alert, the defence grew tighter, and a foul play was blown by the referee against us, this time around it was very close to the goalpost, a deflection led to a goal. The first half ended 1:0 we lost, it was time to buckle up

The next half started and as amateurs improper substitution was made and the effect was obvious in the second half, the defence became poorer as well as the midfield, the ball faced me several times, I made many saves but unfortunately the second goal came in, as an untrained keeper punched out a ball that was supposed to be caught to my opponent and they refired it back and the third goal came in.

I lost hope, I lost focus, the strike was too much, what are my teammates doing, another crazy substitution and everything will become worse, now I know the reasons why goalkeepers fling their hands in anger and against gameplay. Worse came to worse, my defender scored a home goal, it is finished, Jesus's word on the cross found its way into my mouth, eweeeeeeeh. So this match ended at 5:0, we lost, it was a friendly match anyway but we complained about each other's fault. I was agitated and happy at the same time as we cracked jokes on our way back.

Don't bother if I am not giving an account of my teammate's play, I writing about what I faced as a goalkeeper (^_-)
