What went wrong? My tomato ๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ… ๐Ÿ…plants are sick and some are dying ๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿ™‡

I visited a friend in my city of residence before I even conceived the idea of planting tomatoes. He showed me his tomato plants in his garden. They were very healthy and were even flowering. I praised them and told him that he will soon start enjoying a great harvest.

That was when he told me that the tomatoes had been like that for a long time. They refused to yield fruits. He also told me about a friend of his who planted for commercial purposes but the same thing happened to them.

I didn't really understand the whole thing then, after all, one that fell carelessly on my farm bore fruits. About three and I enjoyed them. How come these ones are having issues?

But my eyes are clear now as I have experienced it in a hard way. In this post, I shared how I planted the nurseries inside a bag alongside my yam. They were doing great at the beginning and beyond as you can see on my post here. I was even told to nurse another batch so that I grow them in batches and harvest in batches too.

IMG_20240606_180943.jpgthe nurseries

Recently, I started nursing another batch as the growth of the ones I already planted was overwhelming to me. I was so happy. Soon, those ones started flowering. My joy grew more, expecting that it will soon bearing fruits. Only for me to take a second look at them and discovered that they were changing colours. The leaves were discolouring and some were already dieing. What transpired is what I can't explain.

The dead leaves are clearly seen on the picture hereIMG_20240606_141018.jpg

I have asked experts what could be the course, some said that our soil rarely grows tomatoes. That it is a very delicate plant that doesn't take time to die, some said that it is a pest that attacked them, while others said that it is because of sun โ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธ. Well, whatever may be the cause, I have been able to read a little about what could possibly cause such and I am only convinced that it is one thing that could cause this situation and that is Fusarium and Verticillium Wilt source. This is a disease that is caused by fungi in the soil which enters the plant through it's root. I am suspecting this to be true .

I have been feeling so bad about this situation and I am even discouraged, not wanting to continue the planting of the ones I have nursed. What do you think? Should I go ahead and plant this nurseries or i should just quit? @patjewell @event-horizon @mesola @irawandedi @goodybest @impersonal @yancar @ihorgic @fifapresido @eveteem @realitytrend and others.

the update on other plants and trees

Well, I am mourning my tomato plants, I am also happy at the progress of my other plants and trees.

When we moved in last year to my house, my family made efforts to plant some trees so that they will start growing without delay. It will interest you to know that they are doing very well. Take a closer look at some of them

You can how our house is turning to a great farm house. We are just starting. I believe that not everything will be successful but the ones that are doing well are very encouraging.

Our focus now will be shifted to our newly acquired farm land. Soon, we will move some plantain suckers to that side. It is a bit far from the house. I visited there last Sunday to see how the cassava plants were doing. They are still very tender

Expect more updates on my trees and plant planting. I want to make it greener and healthier ๐ŸŒฒ ๐ŸŒฒ ๐ŸŒด ๐ŸŒด ๐ŸŒด ๐ŸŒด ๐ŸŒด. How about you?

One tomato plant also grew naturally in our backyard. It yielded few fruits once only and did not turn red also. Afterwards it's leaves also dried. Thank you ma'am for sharing the entire farm.

It didn't turn green? What could possibly be the cause of this situation? Well, we will keep trying. Thank you for your comment, it is encouraging

The other day I called you and you said you are in the farm, I didn't really understand, but now I do.

As for the part of the tomatoes, what manure did you use in planting them, how fertile is your ground, you should be able to ask this question too.

I don't know if you can nurse them small small so that you don't need to transplant it to and other place.

Waoo your plantain is so big, is very costly now in the market. You are really enjoying your compound ma'am.

I used chicken excrement as manure when I was planting them.

I already nursed them

Ok ma, so sorry

I think the problem is due to low rainfall, its this month of June that we begin to experience regular downpour. Another problem could be on May be the soil wasn't fertile enough and the farming environment prevalent with tomato pests. Have seen another farmer who laid same complaint but his own wasn't like yours, at least I saw him going home with two bucket full of tomato. My advise is to research on what tomato cultivation, propagation and harvesting is all about, gain an insight, re-plant. For now sorry about the loss. Thank you

Thank you so much for this explanation. I think it makes sense now. I agree that the rain delayed a lot. Now that it has started raining regularly, I will transplant the nurseries and see how it goes again. I appreciate

U don't think u are the only person complaining about low yields in tomato this period ooooh. The farmers in my area are also crying. I think it's the low rate of rainfall earlier in the year. But I want you to take solace in the growth of your other plants. I believe next farming season will be better for all your crops

I think so too, the low rain earlier this year was alarming. I am glad that other plants are doing pretty well. Thank you so much

Upvoted. Thank You for sending some of your rewards to @null. It will make Steem stronger.

We start to have consistent downpours in June, thus I think that's the main cause of the issue. May's farming environment was plagued by tomato bugs and the soil was not sufficiently fertile, which is another cause for concern. Though his was not the same as yours, I have seen another farmer express the same grievance; at the very least, I saw him hauling home two buckets full of tomatoes. For now, I apologize for the loss. With regards

So sorry about your tomatoes ma'am,I know how it's feels,I remembered as a child when I do plant tomotes in a bucket, seeing them grow and getting greener makes me so happy until waking up one day and discovered they were no longer healthy, I cried seeing them look that way. I advise you make research on what the issue could be.

I will try and do further research and know what to do. I truly appreciate
