Proved: Death Metal doesn't incite violence

As a fan of heavy music, I'm in and out of school often faced with misunderstanding from peers. And more often hear words like "only insane can like it" or "it's the devil's music that normal people can't listen." If you listen to heavy music – think you know what I mean.

Understandably, I never paid attention to this stingy criticism, ridiculous remarks or attempts of people to impose their opinion. People are afraid of what they do not understand, especially if it deprives even a bit comfort.

So. Scientists from the University Macquarie University decided to conduct a fun experiment and to dispel decades of wandering through the world myth, says that fans of brutal music are inclined to violence.

For the tests, thirty-two metalheads and forty-eight people were selected, listening to pop and other light directions, unrelated to rock music. The influence of metal on empathy was tested according to the principle of the phenomenon of binocular rivalry.

The essence of experiment is as follows: for one eye, subject is served with visual material that is violent in nature, the other sees soothing videos and images (nature, communication, walks in the park and so on). To exacerbate the situation and maximize effect of the experiment in process of demonstration control groups listened alternately to death metal song Bloodbath - “Eaten” and cheerful song Pharrell Williams - “Happy”.

Special devices control response of human eyeball to broadcast. In conclusion, scientists are asked the person in what information have seen are remembered.

In fact, tests showed that so it was clear: heavy music doesn't cause aggression and propensity for violence. Fans of death metal and other metal genres responded to the broadcast is identical to the second group of people.

Bill Thompson, responsible for experiment, made a simple conclusion:

"Death metal fans are nice guys."

However, no one doubted. It's just music.
