Introducing Neptunica

Hello everybody!

It is great to be here on this new social media platform which may take over the world pretty soon.

We are Max & Nick, a German DJ and producer duo from Berlin and Bremen, better known as Neptunica. Being signed to the German dance-music label Kontor Records, we produce melodic pop music with influences of Trap, Tropical and we call this fusion "Trapical". Here you can see what we have done so far. It would have been great to share a Spotify playlist here, however this feature is not supported on steemit.com, so we now share a YouTube video with you:

Why are we here?

Believing that blockchain technology and streaming will be the future of the music industry one day, we still have no idea, where the journey will really go. Is it DTube (Steem), Musicoin, Muse or even some different music-coin founded in the future? It is really hard to tell. Leading enterprises in the music industry still don't know about smart contracts and what they could do for them. Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, Amazon Music and all other streaming platforms - they all stick to a fiat accounting system and there are no signs that this could change too soon, where it could be so much easier to just install smart contracts on each song and pay the artists and labels directly and instantly each stream they do.

Years might bring more trust into krypto-currencies, so the possibility will grow that there will be one platform actually implementing it. We think that DTube is not the answer, because we can't rely on a torrent system to host the music. There still needs to be a central enterprise that hosts the songs and ensures that songs will not be stolen and illegal content will not be uploaded. Also reliability will not be possible with a torrent-system. Each song must be available for streaming - always, so the music must be hosted somewhere centrally even though the accounting should be decentral.

In our opinion, Spotify or any other streaming-platform could just take an existing krypto-currency which is able to do smart-contracts and has a sufficient scalability and use it for their accounting. This would boost the krypto-currencies' value and everything would be so much easier by just taking what already exists and just combining it.

In a later post we would specify this thought a big more and we are sure that this is the platform to reach the right people with it.

But unfortunately and most probably our music won't be accounted by smart contracts too soon, even if that may be the case in a later future. Still it is possible to use krypto-currencies to earn money with music already today. For this purpose, we have set up a donation page where fans can donate money if they like our music and would like to give a little more credit, than just 10$ Spotify fee each month which they might pay if they don't wanna listen to the ads inbetween the songs. It's like a street musician having a hat infront of him where people can throw in a $ if they like.
