Take off at Tokyo
There’s a moment during every flight when the world feels different. The seatbelt sign is on; the engines are roaring and the city starts fading. I always book a window seat for myself just to witness these moments. For a couple of minutes, I get the aerial city view.
This take off is from Narita Airport and as you look down you see different landscapes and the Sea. Tokyo I can say is a green land, so much of greenery all around that you can make out how much effort must be put in maintaining it.
Every time on take-off I try to identify the places, sometimes I am successful if the building is big enough or if there are prominent structures. The path that this flight was on did not give a view of Mount Fuji.
From above you can identify how Tokyo is really a collection of towns that grew into each other.
From above, Tokyo makes sense. The density, the order, the way old temples sit next to glass towers. It’s messy and perfect at the same time.
It was a beautiful Goodbye from the city to me.
