Pada hari itu di sekitar tahun 2010 saya berada di Toko Buku Gramedia di salah satu mall Kota Bekasi, melihat buku-buku atau novel yang sekiranya bisa menjadi bahan bacaan saya. Mata saya tertuju pada sebuah novel yang menjadi best Seller saat itu, sebuah novel berjudul If I Stay, sebuah novel remaja yang bercerita tentang Mia Hall, Gadis 17 tahun yang mengalami kecelakaan yang mengakibatkan Ibu, Ayah, dan Adiknya meninggal Dunia, dan Mia yang Koma, melihat rohnya terpisah dari tubuhnya yang koma. Merenungi berbagai macam kejadian dalam Hidupnya sampai dia memutuskan apakah dia akan Tinggal atau ikut keluarganya.

Saya akhirnya membeli Novel tersebut, untuk koleksi bacaan saya, dan berusaha untuk mencari Sekuel dari novel tersebut di Jakarta dan bekasi namun nihil, sulit mendapatkan sekuel dari novel ini. Mungkin karena ceritanya tidak semenarik novel pertama, atau karena banyaknya peminat sehingga novel ini sulit di temukan.

Tahun 2014 novel itu akhirnya menjadi sebuah Film Hollywood dengan judul yang sama yaitu "If I Stay". Yang di perankan oleh Chloe Moretz sebagai Mia Hall. Di tahun 2015, saya saat itu sudah berada di Kota Manado, Ketika mengunjungi Gramedia, secara tidak sengaja saya menemukan novel Kedua yang berjudul "where she went". Tanpa banyak pikir saya langsung membayarnya di cashier.

Tanpa membeberkan spoiler, Membaca novel ini cukup menghilangkan banyak rasa penasaran saya tentang apa yang terjadi pada Mia setelah Ending dari Novel Pertama. Novel ini juga mengajarkan bahwa waktu adalah penyembuh terbaik untuk segala luka, kesempatan kedua, dan narasi penulis dalam menjabarkan sisi lain dari kota New York membuat pembaca merasa seakan berada di New York.

Satu hal yang cukup menggelitik adalah penjabaran Adam sebagai seorang Rocker yang menuliskan banyak lagu dengan lirik Romantis. Mungkin Adam lebih cocok jadi penyanyi Pop Melankolis ketimbang Rockers.

On that day around the year 2010, I was in Gramedia Bookstore in one of the malls in Bekasi City, browsing books or novels that could be my reading material. My eyes were drawn to a novel that was a bestseller at that time, titled "If I Stay," a teenage novel telling the story of 17-year-old Mia Hall. She experiences an accident that results in the death of her mother, father, and brother, leaving Mia in a coma. Reflecting on various events in her life, she decides whether to stay or join her family.

I eventually bought the novel for my reading collection and tried to find its sequel in Jakarta and Bekasi but to no avail. Perhaps the story wasn't as captivating as the first novel, or it was challenging to find due to its popularity.

In 2014, the novel was eventually adapted into a Hollywood film titled "If I Stay," starring Chloe Moretz as Mia Hall. In 2015, while in Manado, I accidentally found the second novel titled "Where She Went" during a visit to Gramedia. Without much thought, I purchased it at the cashier.

Without revealing spoilers, reading this novel satisfied my curiosity about what happened to Mia after the first novel's ending. The book also teaches that time is the best healer for all wounds, providing second chances. The author's narrative skillfully portrays another side of New York, making readers feel as if they are there.

One intriguing aspect is the depiction of Adam as a rocker who writes many romantic lyrics. Perhaps Adam is more suited to be a melancholic pop singer than a rocker.
