It's Our Number 1 Goal At SteemIt To Onboard The Masses.
I wonder if the Steem blockchain can ever handle the masses. I think there is a scalability issue but I think there is a chance that Steemit and the Steem blockchain could go pro and get the data centers it needs if it ever did explode and compete with Facebook.

Just a quick note: If you use the tag palnet you can earn an extra currency called pal. You don't need to post from their Steemit clone site to get the rewards. Same goes for the tag BATTLE (Gaming Content only for BATTLE).
