Aceh Forest Heroes: Raising Environmental Awareness in Facing the Threat of Logging

In the deep jungle of Aceh, there lived a tiger cub named Kumbang. Its fur is striped black and orange, its eyes are sharp, and its footsteps are as quiet as a shadow. Beetles love to go on adventures down the alleys of trees, play hide and seek with butterflies, and swim in clear rivers that flow between rocks.

One day, Kumbang was playing chase with a squirrel when he smelled a strange smell. The smell of smoke mixed with the aroma of burning wood. He followed the smell with careful steps until he reached the edge of the forest. His eyes widened at the horrifying sight. Forests are being cut down! Large trees fell one by one, sawed by humans greedily. Small animals ran around in fear, birds flew in panic from their nests.

Kumbang was sad to see his house destroyed. He remembered his grandmother's story about the importance of forests. Forests are like the lungs of the Earth, which produce the clean air they breathe every day. Forests are also home to various animals, sources of clear water, and protection against floods and landslides. If the forests are lost, the Earth will be sick, and all the creatures living in it will suffer.

With determination, Kumbang ran to his mother, telling her about what he had seen. Her mother, a wise tigress, listened patiently. "We've got to do something, kid," he said. "The forest is our home, and we must protect it."

The two of them invited other tigers and forest-dwelling animals. They gathered under a shady banyan tree, discussing how to save the forest. The beetle, with its tiny body, jumped onto the highest branch and shouted loudly, "Friends, our forest is in danger! We must unite to stop it!"

The Beetle's enthusiastic voice moved the hearts of all the animals. They agreed to work together. The elephants use their trunks to roll away logs blocking the river, so that forest officials can get to the logging sites easily. Birds perched on the workers' shoulders and heads, pestering them with incessant chirping. Monkeys swing from tree to tree, throwing fruit and twigs towards the machines used for felling.

Seeing the unexpected resistance of the animals, the loggers got scared and ran away. Sumatra's jungles were saved. Kumbang and his friends cheered with joy. They have succeeded in protecting their home.

Since then, Kumbang has become a forest hero. He and his friends continue to preserve the forest, planting new trees, and teaching young animals about the importance of protecting the environment. They know that Earth is a common home, and all living creatures must live side by side peacefully and look after each other.

The story of Kumbang teaches us that anyone, no matter how big or small, can be an environmental hero. With care, courage and cooperation, we can protect forests and keep the Earth healthy. So, let's start from ourselves, reduce paper use, plant trees, and don't litter. Together, we can create a green and sustainable future!
