Why We Love Homesteader’s Coop & Permaculture Plant Product Announcement
I have some exciting announcements to make! First, if you haven't already, go vote for @homesteaderscoop in @theycallmedan's 20K delegation contest!
Homesteader's Coop (which is not just for homesteaders!) is a Steem-based online marketplace that empowers buyers and vendors!
We are fluent in Steem, SBD AND USD and unique products are for sale from all over the world! Not only that, they've teamed up with @naturalmedicine, which is another favorite group of mine on the blockchain. You can't go wrong with your vote!
One of the things I love most about @homesteaderscoop is that we can sell our homestead goods there and there's no overhead charge. Of course because we are a part of an awesome blockchain, we upvote @homesteaderscoop posts twice a day and THAT is our fee! It's really revolutionary to use the abundant regenerating power of the blockchain as an option for commerce. Steem blockchain is RIPE for this and @sagescrub has blessed us all by putting in the foundation, development and maintenance work and boosted all of our experiences to new heights!
So far we have sold tinctures and thornless blackberries on there and we've loved it. It's one thing to know your products are going to good homes, yet quite another when you sorta-kinda-basically know and interact with these good people through Steem. As many of you know, our community is so so special and this is extra-proof-icing on top.
Read some reviews by our fellow Steemians who have purchased and reviewed our products. Where else can we develop such immediate, community based loop like that when it comes to economics. Homesteader's Coop is certainly not anonymous -- and that's a good thing!

This community is our strength...
and whether it's the vast amount of vendors putting their creativity into full drive and producing a product that they can sell, the people paving the way managing the @homesteaderscoop page or the brainstorming sessions that go on behind the scenes gearing the Coop toward greatness, this is an incredible thing to be a part of and I'm very thankful! I hope you get a chance to watch my video and hear more about it :)
Which leads me to my next point, we have a new product up for sale on the Coop!
Permaculture Plant Extraordinare! Sunroot! AKA Jerusalem Artichoke!
Besides @walkerland and @riverflows, most humans adore this plant ;) as it's an abundantly regenerating tasty root tuber that produces a beautiful sunflower! We've written extensively about it here and here.
Here's a brief synopsis we wrote in our post
Forgotten Plants | 6 Perennial Vegetables Bought With Steem Planted!. This whole cycle begins and ends with Steem!
Another popular weedy perennial vegetable is the Sunchoke aka Jerusalem Artichoke. It can produce copious quantities of tubers year after year. We have 3 varieties already established, but couldn't resist getting more. Be warned, once you plant them it may be hard to eradicate them, so plant them in a spot where they stay and expand.
They are excellent raw, baked, mashed, fried, boiled, dried and fermented. Truly a versatile food crop that is just so easy to grow. Their reputation as "fartichokes" is due to the insulin content that may cause gas. While good for stabilizing blood sugar, inulin is digested in the colon which causes the wind to rise from within, although I have found lacto-fermentation to remedy this (I presume because lactobacillus breaks the inulin down). (And it doesn’t affect everyone in this way. You may be one of the lucky ones.)
This variety is the Spindel and Oikos (where we purchased them from originally) writes this on their website:
These medium-sized oval-shaped sunchokes are dense, nutty and have a very strong flavor without being bitter. They have a few nodes and white and light brown with a little bit of striping. Sunchokes provide the body with loads of Vitamins C and B for heart health and energy. They also contain a large amount of potassium and iron. This selection is probably related to the other 'spindels' or identical to the one found in central Europe. Easy to clean.
We are selling 6 for $10 on homesteader's coop! You can buy with Steem, USD or SBD! Find them here!
Have I stated sufficiently yet how thankful I am for the Homesteader's Coop? It is truly a community effort blessing so many and bringing so many of us together :)
If you have an article (or video!) about why you love Homesteader's Coop and you want to encourage others to vote in the 20k poll, check out this post. There's a little over a day and a half left to vote!

Fabulous. It is exciting to see more things go up in this amazing online store. Perhaps I should put my artichokes for sale for Australian buyers haha because I sure as hell don't need them. To be honest though I'm going to make a nice bake from artichokes and potatoes and roasted garlic and so on and I think it will be lovely. It's all in how you cook them karma but I can never be bothered cleaning them either which is why we don't have them that much. Love the enthusiasm in this post for a very very worthy steam project that deserves all our support because we can benefit from it whether we are selling things or not. Would love to hear from anybody that buys your artichokes and cooks some nice dish with them. They are so easy to grow and make fabulous shade plants. Mine are about to flower.

hehehe yes faaaartichoke! worth noting, however, after extensive studies at mountain jewel, if you eat them a few times the farts significantly taper off. ;)
Cool, will look into them more.
awesome! :)
